$500 sounds awefully high to me but if you can get it...
We've done these both unlaminated and laminated. Give the customer the option and I agree that it does not determine if we are proud of the work we do or not.
The digital print world is a scary, confusing place...one of which if you fall into may never be able to claw your way back to the light of day!
Honestly, it is much more complex than just sending a file to an overgrown desktop printer. Sub 'em out for a while and see how it goes.
Also it...
I upgraded to 8 and have found the upgrade marginal at best. The new toolbar icons are aweful! I do enjoy the new export to pdf, margin on bitmap and the onscreen spellcheck. Just make sure that those are the worth the upgrade price.
It depends on the amount and type of production you do concerning the print/cut in one machine vs the standalone print and cut. We have a versacamm AND a FC7000 pro series Graphtec with the optical registration.
I like being able to resend the cut file to the versacamm after laminating much...
We use color print from Siser all the time and it works great! We use the mask that comes from Siser called "uni-mask clear" - I just looked and it is on an avery roll and has a yellow backing.
DO a search and I think you'll find it has been discussed before.
I have a new Daige 55" - I have had absolutley no problems with it other than I had to loop the drive belt into a figure eight to use oracal laminate(reverse wound). I use no sled or paper! I just wipe wd-40 on the rear table...
I did the same thing originally and flexi never did see them. So I put them in photoshop cs2 and set preferences to adobe plugins. Mine work but will not print correctly or show up correctly in flexi 8 (and that is why I upgraded from 7.6). They work great in photoshop though.
Over the years I've bought a few used legit Flexi-pro with dongle and later upgraded them. It's been great for us, just realize you must register under your name and pay a transfer fee which could be rather expensive. Every software company is different so do your homework on the particular...
I have the FC series graphtec with the optical eye but never use it. I just put my laminated prints back in my versacamm and cut. I've found that to be much easier then switching machines. However, I could see that the option would be used if you have a printer with no on board cutter or when...
Pro series Graphtec!!! You can't go wrong with a plotter from one of the "big" boys although they all have their pros and cons. I think you have found out the hard way to stay away from the cheapo china plotters.
Design and use spot color refill ribbons and you can keep cost down a little. I've found that PC-600 is only good for quick non-laminated short run decals. NOT good for any type of wide format printing. We got our start on the PC-600 and it's ok for a starter but eco-solvent is a much better way...
I've got a sp300v and use the cut after laminate all the time. Heck ya you should be using it!!! It works great with Flexi.
Biggest tip I have - line up the print straight when you put it back in the machine.
I can't comment on the printer but you can't go wrong with the big squeegee.
I also don't think you can go wrong with a Daige 55" for $500! That's a good buy if it's in good condition. I have a Daige and although it has it's little issues it works excellent for me! I use it all the time with...
