  1. trying to design a new logo

As has been said, it looks like just typed text, cramped, with a swoosh thrown in to make it look "creative". Very Microsoft Word looking, and nothing stands out. If you are just getting started you may want to purchase the Mike Stevens Mastering Layout book or Dan Antonelli's logo design books...
  2. corel x4 home and student

My son is taking a new shop course at school. They are using Corel X5. He came home yesterday asking me if I could make him vector of the Ford emblem so he could engrave it into his project. After a few questions (he knows how to use Corel 12) he told me that the teacher is engraving a Harley...
  3. Kia ora from Kiwi land.

I know a Kiwi named Dean but he goes by the name of Elvis. Quite the skilled airbrush artist. Love.....Jill
  4. Overlapping Vinyl Cost

You might want to try a three tired pricing structure. 1 color truck doors are $X 2 colors are $XX A custom print with many colors is $XXX (or SignGold, or a really fancy design etc) Try not to worry about your competition, charge a fair (to everyone) price and do a good job. Explain to your...
  5. rc wrap

I don't do wraps and I don't know jack sh!t about RC stuff, but lots of folks on here do. My worry would be how does the fuel used for these things affect the vinyl/ink? Also I'm sure weight would be an issue. Hopefully someone will chime in with real help. Love....Jill
  6. Ripoff?

You should have gotten an estimate before shipping the shirts. You like the company. It's their business how they run it, not yours. Either order them or don't. Or start making your own shirts and then you'll realize why they charge what they charge. Love....Jill
  7. How do I Tackle This Big Boy?

I'd sub it out to someone who could restore it as it once was. Love.....Jill
  8. Technically a Survivor

Good on all of yins. Love.....Jill
  9. What material is pylon and how do i remove this sign blank?

Use translucent. If you're going to do a job, do it right. And charge accordingly.
  10. What material is pylon and how do i remove this sign blank?

If this is not something you do, you shouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole. If you don't even know which materials to use that shows your inexperience. And I agree, NEVER ever go by another shop's measurements. I know you need the work but you probably won't make very much money on this one...
  11. Sows ear into a silk purse with lipstick on it!

Who says you can't polish a turd? Bob, you are very gifted. You managed to add flair and cohesiveness (is that a word?) to a very mediocre layout. Love.....Jill
  12. In Memory of...

I had already forgotten about this. Tiki, the guy loved it.
  13. Anyone know how to save a painted sign?

Depending on what the sign is painted with I see two possible solutions. One, simply wash the sign. Let dry REAL good in the sun. Then wax with good car wax. Two, if the sign is 1Shot, you could clean and dry as suggested. Then try a scumble glaze to go deeply into the cracks and things. Then...
  14. probably free, font ID

    Zarana? http://www.abstractfonts.com/font/12002 Just a guess. Love.....Jill
  15. Open House Font

Buy yourself a good script, like one of Art & Sign Studios or something from Sign DNA (there are other more expensive scripts from LHF or House Industries) Then you'll have something you can use again, which will match each other. And remember proper node editing and welding to make it look...
  16. Any problems with Avery Etchmark?

I have not tried it, to be honest. But I wouldn't try it anyway, having been bitten pretty hard by Avery. Have you checked out Oracal's etched look vinyls? Have had really nice results from those, both the fine and the coarse. Love.....jill
  17. Up Date on OP . We WOULD miss you.

RIP OP You know what they say about artists, dead they are not, but departed; for an artist never dies. Love.....Jill
  18. OP is in hosp

Joe you're too ornery to give up. Just think of PA stuff like the Stillers and pierogies and it will get that ticker ticking. Love.....Jill
  19. Name that font

    Flat Brush? Love....Jill
  20. Do you wear your own shirts?

I wear my Ts on jobs (print is on the back) not always on paint jobs tho because I mess them up. I wear my hoodie (print on the back) everywhere I can, especially when I'm volunteering at community events. And I always have a lot of cards in the pocket. Love....Jill
