do it in etched glass vinyl; way better looking than just std vinyl for reverse installs. it's a bit more of a pain but looks great.

I never seem to have "great" results when printing directly on the magnetic material - good enough for vehicle magnetics (12x24), but not high-res enough for business cards that will be viewed up close.

Illustrator allows documents up to 227"x227", so you should have no prob with a 58" image... try my other sugg posted above, again; where (what program) are you getting the JPEGs from.

if the clear strip broke, then the wires inside it broke. Those broke wires are causing the error. You need the new wiring harness and protective strips. That'll fix you right up. Had this happen a while ago. Try to keep that strip & track clean.

it may also have to do with the spot color red, as you have a pot over a spot. flatten transparency on the total redw/bleed, then combine into a solid fill shape, and convert it to cmyk. then try it again.

we do them in house pretty often, about a set or more every week. .50 each for under 200, .40 ea for 200-500, price drops more after that. customers love them. We print 24x50" sections for ease of applying to magnetic steeting, stick them wet to the mag, roll em dry and cut em.

I like th etop one but would change the font on his name, it just looks squished to me, possibly to a bolder condensed font.
