Anybody got a name for this script? I've looked through everything I've got and found several close but nothing close enough.
  5. Looking to upgrade my Scanner

Depends on exactly what you're doing but I'd say almost everything a typical sign shop does can be handled very capably by a $200 scanner, especially since these days most customers can provide digital artwork more easilly than hard copies anyway.
  6. black friday shopping

Heck no. I don't care if Target is giving away free televisions I won't be there. I'll be sitting at the house with the grill fired up, the bottles iced down, and watching football. Some people love the "thrill of the hunt" running around after doorbusters.....my pledge to those people is...

Cheap dehydrators are only $40. You'll spend more than that in two days of making it in the oven.
  8. beef jerkey

Take an Old Bay seafood seasoning bag, put it in a pot of water, bring it to a boil, let it cool and marinate your beef in it. Works great for chicken on the grill, too.

I'm thankful I never leased anything to Fred.
  10. beef jerkey

Forget the liquid marinades and start using dry rubs. The taste is better and it's a lot easier to control the amount of flavor you cover the meat with. Most grocery stores carry a bunch of different premade rubs (keeps you from buying a bunch of spices you may or may not ever use again)...
  11. Things you should be thankful for but you are thankful anyway

This topic came up Sunday and let to some pretty interesting thoughts. Anybody care to share anything they're thankful for that they should probably feel guilty for? I'm thankful my best friend stopped going out with his girlfriend before I had to convince her to dump him and go out with me...
  12. how does the "little guy" compete

If you're doing the same thing as the established shops you won't be able to compete. The chances of you surviving long enough to build up clientele are slim to none. If you don't already have the skill set to compete you're in for a long, painful learning curve before you're proficient enough...
  13. Looking to upgrade my Scanner

I'm sure I'm gonna catch it for this but here goes.... I've got an Epson Perfection V30 Flatbed Scanner ($60) and a Canon Pixma printer/scanner combo ($40) that both outperform the $1200 Canon Art Scanner we bought 8 years ago and the $600 Microtec we replaced it with.
  14. Coaster Design

All in all it's okay, they're just chipboard coasters. The artwork for the cactus and the "plants?" really could have used some work but I don't know if they had the budget to do it better.

Isn't 4over going after the sign business now?
  16. Vinyl for water bottles

When my twins were born we had labels made for their bottles. I had Signs365 print them using Oracal Orajet 3651 with lamination (the cheapest printing they do). Those bottles got washed in the dishwasher almost daily for 18 months and we never lost a label. We're currently using them on...

  20. Vendor Quote Times

My biggest pain is a fairly local pan face supplier. Twice now I've gotten in faces from out of state, lettered them and installed them BEFORE the local people even got their quote faxed to me. I'm not talking complex here....just a simple set of 3' x 10' pan faces.
