Listen to Old Paint. OEM spec kits are cheap for what you're getting.
And while you may be able to find the artwork there are potential issues with copyrights.
I could be related. LOL
You said you are set up to blast and know what it takes. That's good. OP is apparently not. Based on that assumption I gave him a valid solution.
Good post.
We use our printer for short run fast turn work. A lot of other things get subbed out. Having a subcontractor make your products is not a bad way to go.
The time I would spend printing and finishing a job can be used to lock down another client. It can be a much less stressful...
Way too much of a mess. Has to be done outside then you run into waste disposal issues, or done in a contained environment. There are health issues too as a many blasting medias have silica in them.
Clean and prep as normal and hit the printed areas with flat black from a rattle can. Paint as usual. This trick even covers permanent marker.
My qualifications? I used to be an industrial painter. Speed was key. Get it in, get it painted, get it shipped.
We run a Hotronix 16x20 digital draw press. We only use Eco-Print so I'm not qualified to comment on other products. At this point I see no reason to change.
We set it at 320 and hit the shirt for 5 seconds first to flatten it out. Timer is set for 13 seconds. Peel hot. Works a treat.
Your welcome. Please post the finished work.
As Homer would say: "Mmmm....Aluminum". Makes me want to fire up the SyncroWave and TIG the day away.
As mundane as it sounds I really miss TIG welding the "curbs" I used to do or an HVAC place.
For cast material we've switched over to Arlon 6000XRP. We print for a couple other shops and their installers love it. Kits from Fellers are dirt cheap compared to 3M kits.
Get a Roland SP540V. Mines been a tank. Slow? Yup, but it just cranks out work with no fuss. Just finished a bunch of tabletops for SXSW. Can find them for $8500-$9500.
That may put the shop out of business.
Gonna get ugly just with the clean up. Our neck of the woods HAZMAT gets 5 grand per barrel of absorbent they take off the truck.(and they aren't shy about it) Plus the cost of call out, time on site, additional remediation etc...
By the tone of your post I surmise you are going to enter.
There is a major problem with crowd sourcing though. It devalues talent. When you can no longer get paid for your designs how will you feel?
Interesting take Gino. Guilt by association. From what I've seen in my area no one cares.
If everyone listened to any bad report whatsoever telling people to stay away from whatever there wouldn't be much left.
I have answers to many questions to which the responses would not be taken too kindly. They may not be the "truth" people are seeking.
Common parlance would have them "getting their knickers in a twist".
