  1. I'm Baaacckkkk!!!!

Thank you, thank you :) Definitely glad to be back to working during "normal" hours (not 7:00pm-1:00am every day) LOL.
  2. Anyone Closing Christmas through New Year

Seriously considering it....It's usually dead in here from the day after Thanksgiving until March 1 anyways :)
  3. I'm Baaacckkkk!!!!

Hey everyone! High School football season is finally over for us (just missed the playoffs), so life is starting to return to normal - which means that I have time for things OTHER than coaching, eating, sleeping, and frantically trying to keep up around the shop!!! I'll be hopping back into...
  4. Brain lock...

Flame, What is that font you used on the last one?
  5. Brain lock...

Thanks for all of the fantastic suggestions everyone! I'm going to hammer out the final design tonight and will post it for consumption tomorrow :)
  6. Brain lock...

Flame, I'm with you man. I'd LOVE to do that. HOWEVER, as I stated in my OP, this is the historic district. Anything that isn't earthtones isn't getting approved - period. Our historical district is ridiculous.
  7. Brain lock...

OK - revision using suggestion of banner wrapping around the "J".
  8. Brain lock...

-bump- Nothing? Is it that bad? LOL
  9. Brain lock...

OK - here's the scoop. Dog grooming shop. Originally wanted to do a very cool dimensional piece for these people. They were stoked about it. Then, decided "nope - we can't spend the money". So, now we are down to 3'x8' polymetal panel sign with digital print. I've come up with a layout that I...
  10. Your thoughts on New business card

Your last attempt shows your inexperience even more than the first few. You are designing for someone who installs drywall, correct? This is a profession where precision is necessary, correct? Why would you choose a font that is not precise to try and convey this message? Rick's design is...
  11. What do you wear to work?

I wear whatever is comfortable. The company I worked for before going out on my own this time had a very strict dress code. I swore that I'd never be subject to that again.
  12. Restaurant Logo: Opinions?

I think the biggest problem you have is the the rendering of the grill is a jagged edges line - which works with the concept. However, it is very jarring next to the font choice you have for "Bear Creek".
  13. Artist or Not?

I am an artist, but not a sign artist. I'm trying to learn painting and carving. I am, however, an active painter and have done several solo gallery shows and a couple of joint shows. I even have a couple of pieces in the permanent collections of Universities. But I'm an abstract painter - so...
  14. Font ID Help??!!!

    Thanks guys!
  15. Font ID Help??!!!

Hey all - this is an easy one and I'm totally stumped. Need the font used for "Implement Co."
  16. Do you consider your local competion friend or foe?

We are in a smaller town (20k people) and we are the only shop in our county with in-house digital print. We do a good bit of local wholesale work. As far as our "competition", in the county, I know of the following: 1. Lady who was the secretary at my shop 5 years ago - quit and bought a...
  17. This makes me sick to my stomach

Joe makes the best point in this thread - the site is question is a "design your own" site. They aren't my competition. They are where I send all the morons who don't want to make use of the expertise that we bring to the table. Ignore them - they will go away.
  18. Tricks for wrapping without removing door handles and mirrors

No, you obviously HAVE NOT done "many" where you took the door handles and mirrors off, and you have obviously done NONE where you haven't. Myself and a couple of others, EVEN THOSE WHO TOLD YOU WAYS AROUND IT, have said that your best bet is to remove the mirrors and handles (although I can...
  19. Tricks for wrapping without removing door handles and mirrors

So, basically, you don't know what the hell you are doing, and simply want a shortcut answer. That's fine, but just say it like it is. Of COURSE you have to take off the damn door panel. That takes what, 5 minutes and a cordless screw driver? Then you've got what, another 5 minutes to unlcip...
  20. Tricks for wrapping without removing door handles and mirrors

Why are you letting the client dictate how you do the job? Seems ass-backwards to me. It takes what, about 20 minutes to remove the mirrors for each vehicle? Is that 1 hour over a 3 day period really THAT big of a deal? It will take you MUCH more time than that to try to wrap around the obstacles.
