Yep, we still get this spec too. The only part we follow is the 3/4" MDO substrate. Other than that we may do a full print, or vinyl letters. If it's a private contractor that's been handed those specs thye'll usually opt for a ACM sign
Are you selling hand painted signs, or signs that you hand paint? If your market is to the people who want a handcrafted product and value the skill involved you should be charging a premium
price. I don't see a way to make that into a price chart, too many variables. Time, materials & overhead...
We ran into that when re-skinning and old sign that turned out to have been re-skinned once already over porcelain. We would whack it first with a nail punch, still went through a lot of bits
I did a job with Wyld GFI in NJ that needed white ink reverse print on clear. I know they are still in the process of getting back up after being flooded in Ida.
I use Matthews for plaques and they are further out than Gemini, so I just placed an order with Gemini. There are other plaque makers, I have an ARK Ramos catalogue.
I as just remember hearing that back in the day if someone didn't pay for their sign you would roll it out with black paint, that was a signal to other sign shops the place was a deadbeat. Never did it myslef but did see it done a couple times.
