  1. SUMMA D140R - I need serious help.

Thanks for that! So you guys just run a Perf cut and no contour cut before you perf over the same sticker? (on my roland I can do a contour and perf cut in one pass which makes the cuts come out nice and clean) Can you do both of those cuts in a single pass? I haven't figured out a way to do...
  2. SUMMA D140R - I need serious help.

Thank you. I'm glad to get more of the graphtec opinion as well. Like I said I just want something to work and not have to worry about the cuts every sheet I put in. The blade position thing isn't a deal breaker. I mean right now I'm back to doing my perf cuts on my Roland Sp540V. The FC9000...
  3. SUMMA D140R - I need serious help.

So I'm defintely going to need to upgrade my machine, I've been told by a few people that the S2 T will be much better but it's not perfect for die cuts, obviously a flatbed would be ideal but I cannot afford 50-60k cutter. So my next best options are the Summa S2 T or the GraphTec FC9000...
  4. Question First Eco Solvent printer

I agree with the others. I bought my SP540V two years ago, and it was in great shape for $2500. That's way too much for that old of a printer. I'd try and talk them down.
  5. Onyx - Roland SP-540V

Should be named how Onyx will recognize it I'm assuming which should be right. I just don't seem to understand the actual cut settings and why it keeps doing a perf cut. It reads the roland marks (which are .5" in size) and proceeded to cut in the correct positions but always a perf cut. And...
  6. Onyx - Roland SP-540V

I've managed to print from my Epson with the Roland marks but the cutting is where it's faltering. My Roland was able to read the marks correctly and start cutting but it tried doing perf cuts every time it goes to cut. This is stumping me.
  7. Onyx - Roland SP-540V

I can run my SP540V from Onyx and it does put the marks. I can set it as my cutter and it puts the appropriate marks they just don't seem to register right. Just trying to avoid printing on my 540V because next to the Epson it's slow as watching the grass grow.
  8. Onyx - Roland SP-540V

Since I'm having cutting issues and I need to cut on my SP-540V. I want to print jobs on my Epson and then cut them on my Roland. I can print the marks but I cannot get them to read and also anyone have insight into the settings for perf cutting in Onyx. It's a bit different than going through...
  9. Rant What is going on with FedEx?

It's happening with UPS as well. 2 weeks in a row I've had material orders that get an "exception" and ended up having to drive to the sorting facility to pick them up and it happened again on my last shipment I was supposed to get last week.
  10. Graphtec FC9000 reviews and experience

Yeah I saw you have to change the position of it but it's better than me throwing away half a run because of cutting problems and having to reprint. I'm not concerned with as much speed as I am consistency in just getting jobs cut and done with the least amount of problems. I had initially...
  11. Graphtec FC9000 reviews and experience

I had recently bought a Summa D140 and I've been less than pleased with it. I was told I wouldn't have any problems doing die cut stickers on it but after using for a couple of months it's just been terrible for this. I've had to reprint and throw away more material than I should be, which has...
  12. SUMMA D140R - I need serious help.

What I meant is that I can't afford to keep this and buy a new machine. Its just got me stressed out and finishing jobs more difficult and taking longer. My hope is that I can work something out to get back on track because I'm certain it's worth the upgrade. My entire goal was to have a machine...
  13. SUMMA D140R - I need serious help.

Yes probably the strip needs replacing. I definitely don't have cash available for a $60k flatbed but I wish I would've looked at the Graphtec cutters because I think that would've been the option I need for what I do. I'm going to look into seeing if I can get rid of this machine. I've had it...
  14. SUMMA D140R - I need serious help.

Yeah see I think it's wearing out faster because of volume and I think the tangential would help. Regular cuts are fine...I've got no issue with just a regular kiss cut. I haven't had it that long, but my blade definitely got switched around the 1000sq ft mark. I've tried several depths and...
  15. SUMMA D140R - I need serious help.

That's pretty rare I do that high of numbers in a week. Just kinda all hit at once in that week. Usually I'm doing 3-5k pieces a week at most, which I don't feel is high production. But I don't know what kinds of numbers other people do in this kind of work. My background is from large...
  16. Need Help Cannot read OPOS marks on glitter vinyl.

I did some red metal flake and it couldn't even calibrate that media because it's dark and the marks are hard to see. I've gotten good results by placing some application tape over the mark and cutting the square out and then reading it. It's kind of a pain but it works.
  17. SUMMA D140R - I need serious help.

I just feel like I was lead in the wrong direction for this cutter. They said I shouldn't have any problems doing full cut (die cut) stickers like I had been doing on my Roland. Obviously it's not meant to do them and if you do then you need to make sure your blade is very sharp and dialed in...
  18. SUMMA D140R - I need serious help.

But do you do a lot of cutting through the backing material on your materials? That's where my issue seems to be with the cutting through.
  19. SUMMA D140R - I need serious help.

I've gone through all of that to make sure the software wasn't overriding the machine settings. I feel like I should've gotten a graphtec because they have the cut channel for exactly this kind of stuff. Or would an S2 T work in doing a lot of die cut stickers? I've got to do something because...
  20. SUMMA D140R - I need serious help.

Ok. I'm not going completely crazy then. Most of the weren't individual flex cut items. The majority of the 30k were kiss cuts but then I flex cut out the larger portions. (ie 20 labels per sheet) I do a fair bit of die cut stickers though it's usually like 200-500 per order most of the time...
