In your own words: "I am competing in a cutthroat world". So naturally you should drop your prices and quality. It only makes sense so you can "compete".
You have already lost the battle.
As far as the GCC goes give it a shot. If it doesn't work bin it and have your accountant write it off.
One question though, why charge less? You buy equipment to help you produce more at the same prices you've always charged.
Once you start down the low price road you will be in a never...
Sub them out. We do. I concentrate more on the customer and locking down jobs than babysitting equipment.
Tip of the day: Do an opportunity cost analysis in regards to equipment. You may want to break it down into two distinct categories such as cash and time.
Here's what I learned yesterday:
It turns out to be a bad Paper Interrupt Sensor. The one on the rear platen. Sensor check in Service Mode nailed it. By some miracle of fiddling with the wiring it's working. (for how long is anybodies guess) Have to order a new one, install it and start...
We make our own. It allows me to find and note all the contours and little things that can stymie an install. You can't see those things with a template.
Forgot to add. When trying to do the linear encoder test it says to Remove Sheet. Then it immediately displays SET UP SHEET.:banghead::banghead::banghead:
We can access the service menu no problem.
Issue is when we try to do the linear encoder test. Keeps telling us to remove sheet. Wheels up, wheels down with paper or without it doesn't make a difference.
Worst part is according to the manual is says to start with the pinch wheels down...
I've sanded and polished acrylic the same way I do auto paint. Tedious and messy. Another way is to use a sewn cotton wheel on a stationary grinder and use the same compound sticks for metal polishing. Less messy(somewhat) and a bit safer.
Still trying to do a linear encoder test. Every time we press enter it says to remove sheet. There is no sheet to remove.
We have tried all sorts of things and it keeps saying remove sheet.:banghead::banghead::banghead:
When we try to access using the right, down, left + power(according to...
Here's a pic of what it's doing with the crop marks. Lower right was before Linear Calibration, upper left is after. Couldn't get it to perform the encoder calibration.
Got a weird problem. Prints are stair stepping so I cleaned the encode strip. Helped a little.
So I decided to go Service Mode and have it do the Linear Encoder test/setup. Keeps telling me to remove the sheet? There is no material loaded.
Wheels up or down doesn't make a difference...
You are correct the CAMM-1 cutters are not very accurate. I'm getting by with my print/cut SP540V that I have tweaked out, but we're looking for a used Summa.
For deadly accurate jobs I leverage my subs capabilities and their ZUND flatbed.
Best advice I can give is to keep all you jobs...
Here is what I know: Talk to your local utility first. Some will have stupid crazy rebates IF you do what they tell you. Quite simple to do as they send an expert to your site and they work up a plan, all free of charge.
IIRC at my old factory job the cost to redo the lighting was in the...
Illustrator to create shapes then render in Photoshop. (no full wraps, only partials)
It comes down to what software package will allow you to complete the art and layout the fastest for a given project. There is no "silver bullet" so to speak. We've even used Flexi on simple projects.
