  1. Roland Camm-1 cutting accuracy

0.030" is not enough. At 0.2% over 46 inches you're 0.092" off. Not 0.009" (46 x 0.002=0.092) When we run our SP540 for print cut jobs we "blob" the background with the border color. Few pennies extra of ink and all your decals become usable.
  2. Banner Hemming

We are now using the hem tape from Signworld. :thumb: They're a merchant member too.
  3. Template For 1971 Plymouth Duster side Stripes

Better off just buying them from one of the dozens of places that makes them. Want an odd color? Just ask.
  4. Need to recreate this in a high resolution version

I'd run it through OnOne Perfect Resize and see what you get. OnOne never ceases to amaze me how far things can be "pushed" and still look great.
  5. Green masking tape

Go to your local auto or industrial paint supplier and set up an account. Tough to beat their pricing and it will be consistent. Can set up a delivery schedule too.
  6. Perplexed by black not printing quality black

We code what we call Superhero Black for our Roland. 40-40-30-100. You can also try 30-30-30-100 which works quite well.
  7. Stained glass

We've direct printed to window film for a church. Did it to help out our window tint friend many years ago. Not sure on the brand, but it may have been Lumar. It was a textured film and printed great.
  8. Fire Rated Vinyl

Here is what I know from working with a powder coater. ALL vinyls, lams etc... that I've used to produce stencils last mere minutes at 350 to 400 degrees fahrenheit. Edges start to curl within 3 minutes, but that is exactly what he wants to happen. As long as it had PSA and my Summa would cut...
  9. Street Typography

With one hand behind his back too. Neat. Begs the question of how many of those do you paint to attain that level of proficiency?
  10. Church Pricing?

Only deal with one and they've been great. For over a decade we've been doing all the signage for their annual picnic.
  11. Need insight on possible flatbed purchase...

If the bulk of your business is labels get a dedicated label press that handles the whole process from start to finish. The fastest label printers use a laser to "die cut" whatever shape you can dream up. Everything is done for you, printing, laminating, cutting, stripping and rewinding. Top...
  12. And that's why people don't like the cloud.....

I'm of the mind that the latest versions designed more to make life miserable for those of us using older versions. A way to push us into the cloud as it were. As far as needing to have the latest iteration to keep up with clients. I don't. The designers I work with send me the file formats...
  13. Low Res Logos from Customers -- To recreate or not....that is the question...

Tip 'O' the Day when faced with sub standard "art". LOL Found myself in a bind with the annual church picnic. Got a last minute sponsor. Like 1p.m. on Saturday and the picnic is Sunday morning. Got the typical crinkled low res biz card and knew I'd be in trouble if I scanned it.(too much of...
  14. And that's why people don't like the cloud.....

[/B] I refuse to knuckle under to subscription schemes and will run my paid for Illustrator/Photoshop into the ground. Got enough bills already. Once everyone is on the "payment plan" what incentive is there to upgrade or fix bugs? Or repair the cloud for that matter? Of course not being...
  15. Object cuttin sequnce?

Load one of your circles then tell the RIP you need 300. It will cut in sequence every time.
  16. Heat Resistant Vinyl

If it's going on the block or valve covers regular high performance(cast) vinyl will be fine. An engine block won't hit 300 degrees unless you're right against the exhaust port. Block and heads are water cooled and should remain close to cooling system operating temp. Only issue would be right...
  17. Sydney Australia

Thanks guys! Have to wait to hear from my contact. Time difference makes communication a bit tough.
  18. La Bajada Hill, recreating a lost 100 year old sign

    Excellent! :thumb:
  19. Sydney Australia

Anyone from Sydney? Trying to get a client what he needs without the mega-dollar shipping costs.
  20. Laser engraving on Glass in the Northeast

Or you could cut come vinyl masks and use gel etching compound. Lot's of fiddling around, but they turn out nice.
