  1. What fonts do you use?

You're not understanding signs vs magazine ads, high school newsletters, and other assorted printed work. There's a big difference. A huge difference. I must have upwards of 2500 font files of which 2450 of them are unused for anything but matching some previous work by someone else. Of the...
  2. Adobe PS Filters in Flexi

You can use them. Put them all in some convenient location and then in Flexi do Edit->Preferences->File Paths and enter the correct path in the 'Adobe Plug-ins" text box.
  3. Is anyone from SAI online here?

Side step the finger pointing between Graphtec and SAI and put your own marks on the four corners of a known rectangle. Make the contour cut just a path, print, load the print in the plotter and use the plotter's auto scan to find your four marks. After it finds the fourth mark it will tell...
  4. Text issues in Flexi...

Edit->Preferences->Tools->Text Tool and uncheck "Smooth edges of screen fonts"
  5. Still having issues... need some help

This is almost certainly a mechanical problem... A dull blade. A dry blade holder, you need to put a tiny dab of silicone grease on the little ball bearings in the blade holder from time to time. A defective or worn blade holder. Dust and crud in the tool carriage, especially in...
  6. something close

What's keeping you from doing it by hand?. It's a ridiculously simple single stroke with an overloaded quill. I should think that people in the sign business should damn well be able to paint a sign. Being able to do so, even if you don't actually do it, implies a number of things. Like you...
  7. Incomplete cuts

It's not offset. Offset doesn't change and doesn't bring you up short at the end of a cut. Try blowing the dust and crud out of your tool carriage, especially the blade up/down mechanism. Then clean the ways the carriage rides on. This usually fixes this particular problem
  8. Corel doesn't work

Change your screen resolution, ala right click on your desktop, to something else. Then change it back to what you want it to be. I have no idea why this clears this up and neither do the weenies at Corel. But it does.
  9. A little help is requested

That would the the point now wouldn't it? Perhaps it's too subtle for you grasp so I'll try to couch it in terms you might be able to comprehend... If something has rules that are enforced by people then there is no objectivity, merely the prejudices of whomever is the enforcer. In a venue...
  10. anyone buy a printer from matt c?

Attend... If someone bases their entire exposition on a single premise and then infers all manner of things from that premise then, pay attention, if the basic premise is not accepted then all that follows from that premise is invalid. Read that as many times at it takes you to develop at...
  11. A little help is requested

It comes with size and is unavoidable. One of the charms of internet forums is thread drift. Moderation is usually the death knell of active forums. In 40 years of Usenet and then the www I have yet to encounter a moderated forum that wasn't a pale insipid thing. Having to push everything...
  12. anyone buy a printer from matt c?

What if you don't? What then? Belief in this or that as a prerequisite for accepting an argument is a feeble reed. You'd do better to explain your position without reference to your gods.
  13. anyone buy a printer from matt c?

I should think not. You posed a question as if it were some big moral turning point. There is no question, none, nada, zip, zero. A business cannot seek additional payment from a customer because it was, or merely feels that it was, hosed by one of its employees. One doesn't have to be...
  14. anyone buy a printer from matt c?

Not a chance. The apparatus is responsible for its representatives. If I were quoted a price by a bonafide sales weenie from some outfit, money changes hands, merchandise is delivered, then I damn well expect them to live up to their employee's representations. It means nothing to me if the...
  15. "Check Waste Ink"

You need to confirm to the printer that you dumped the waste ink bottle. If memory serves, it goes something like this... Power on. Lift the waste ink bottle off the switch on the bottom of its holder, dump it if it's full. I'm not sure that this step really is necessary, but I do it...
  16. What gets you to the shop and back?

All in all, a fun toy to scoot around town.
  17. Whats the problem?

Static might cause a lot of things but this isn't one of them. Unless ink is actually leaking out of the print head, random ink droplets on a print are virtually always the result of a wayward piece of lint on the print head. All it takes is a single minuscule hair of lint in order to form a...
  18. color is off

What you get depends on a lot of different things. What profile, if any, your using for you monitor. What profile, if any, you're using on export. How you're you looking at the colors in Flexi, Soft Proof or not. What rendering intents you have set up. Whether you're dealing in RGB or CMYK. And...
  19. Font Help Please!

In Corel it's called 'Princetown' but this sounds suspiciously like a euphemistic rename of 'Princeton'. Or perhaps 'Harvard". Or maybe some other ivy league establishment.
  20. Banner Pricing

I use the following algorithm that calculates a price such that the large the work, the less per sq.ft. I use a variation on this algorithm for most all my prices. The variables are... Max is the maximum per square foot price. This is what I'd get for a 1 sq. ft. banner. Min is the minimum per...
