  2. Poor business strategy

Thank you everyone for your comments, both pro and con. It's obvious that people vary as to their business "styles".
  3. Exit Strategy for Sign Business

We just recently purchased a business in December. Lock, stock and barrel. It was an awards, trophy and engraving business. Fifteen years old. Really nice fit for our existing sign shop. I'll tell you what I had an eye on when I bought it.... if that'll help you sell your operation...

Thank you, someone who gets it.
  5. Poor business strategy

Tell that to KFC. Try going into there and ordering a hamburger. They're a fastfood restaurant, right? They shouldn't turn you away, or say we don't do hamburgers. Right? Some larger companies than yours and mine have decided they would do one thing, and do it right. Just because it's...
  6. Poor business strategy

Boy, it's amazing how your words get twisted around. First the issue of dishonesty. What I was saying is this: If you don't want the work, just say so. Don't price it ten million dollars high. What's so hard about that? (you can refer them to someone who might be interested in the work or...
  7. Poor business strategy

One thing always bothers me when I continually see it here on the forum. I'm referring to a particular strategy on how to "walk" certain jobs (customers) out the door. Presumably these are either people that a shop doesn't wish to work with, or the work itself is not to the shop's liking...

    Super good idea!
  9. engraving shop job order forms?

Thanks, I'm trying to simply glean from others, things that work, what doesn't, etc. I like the way yours sort of separates trophies from plaques. Thanks.

  11. engraving shop job order forms?

Well see...that's another thing. I thought of that too. I'm thinking one form would be hard pressed to cover it all. Maybe three forms could possibly do it?
  12. engraving shop job order forms?

I have contacted A&E magazine directly, also. But I'm a little surprised at the few responses I'm getting here. Apart from yours, no other's input. Patience, grasshopper.

  14. engraving shop job order forms?

Well...got my email back as undeliverable. Apparently their site is not up to date. So...any other responses to the original question?
  15. engraving shop job order forms?

    Thanks, I've contacted Steve.
  16. engraving shop job order forms?

We recently purchased a trophy and engraving shop. When an order came in, the previous owner just jotted down the particulars on a pad which had her name and not much else. We find this woefully inadequate for a ton or reasons. My quest is to find a sample order form or at least obtain some...
  17. Encoder strip

Yep, I'd called earlier this morning and they told me $269.00. But they can be cleaned and restored that way. There's a lot of "spatter" or "overspray" going on in an SP Roland. So they do get dirty.
  18. Bright Orange using Versacamm?

Andrew, is it possible to drop the Roland Color System Spot Color Pallette into Gerber Omega 4.0?
  19. Encoder strip

    That's one h*ll of a price. I think I paid $220.00 a year ago. Can it be?
  20. Add to everything else... I'm laid off

That's too bad. At the electrical sign shop I worked at, a million years ago, they had to let one of the sketch artists go (that's what they were called way back in the seventies) and he re-applied at the same company as a salesmen. Did ok as I remember too. But tough break for you. Sorry.
