  1. Funny thing going on in Photoshop. Help?

Ok, the boxes that are checked there say: RGB color, and 8 bits/channel. Are those the correct settings?
  2. Funny thing going on in Photoshop. Help?

Yeah that's what I figured. But which settings? And what should they be?
  3. Funny thing going on in Photoshop. Help?

When I copy and paste a photo (a simple .jpg) into a new document in PhotoShop (CS5) it pastes it in as a black and white. What's happening to my color?
  4. 4'x12' Substrate?

Rolled polycarbonate is the way to go. It's inexpensive too. Your supplier can cut it to size, roll it up and ship it UPS. You can't do that with oversize sheets of aluminum, dibond or whatever. So unless you're driving down to the vendor to pick it up, that's the way I'd go.
  5. Illuminated sign with white acrylic

Watson is correct. If it's very simple text, you could cut it all in translucent and apply. We seldom to it that way, though. We use Oracal 3850 and print the material twice (overprint the print) for color density. Laminate as usual and apply to polycarbonate.
  6. Anywhere to download (not update) Versaworks?

Seems to me, and we just went through this a few weeks back, that if you've got V3.1 you're fine. (we also are using Win7 for an OS) Call or email Roland and if you can verify you own the hardware and the software (they check your name against the serial number) they'll issue you a one-time...
  7. How Many will be Closing Shop for Veterans Day?

I also don't think it's a bullshit holiday. What's your criteria for establishing a "bullshit holiday" anyway? I did email my veteran (son) and thanked him. As far as "showing" it all year long, sure you bet. But it's nice to be remembered too on one special day. I love my wife 365 days a...
  8. Registering you business name.

The ramifications are that he may get really, really upset! Why would you do that?
  9. Registering you business name.

In our state you can't do business without it.
  10. Do you write off..

Seems like the term "write-off" is being thrown around here in various and somewhat inaccurate ways. A write-off, for all intents and purposes, is a deduction you can take against income for monetary losses. First you have to have income. Secondly, you have to have a monetary loss. And be...
  11. Gerber Users ... Reviews Wanted

I've made money with my older Edge all along. It's not used nearly as much anymore because of the large format digital printer, but as we speak I'm getting ready to run two spot colors onto Chrome (Edge ready) material and there's simply no other equipment in my shop that will do this task...
  12. Why sell equipment and not shop?

There are business sales models all over the web. It's pretty easy to figure out what your business is worth. An earlier poster hit the nail on the head. If your business is only throwing off say, $45,000, then a purchaser buying it is buying a job. In your particular instance you'd have to...
  13. Design stress....anyone else ever get that?

Don't know much about the Flexi program. But if you're thinking about heading into design for vehicle wraps, you will need a good "paint" program. Most of us use PhotoShop. But hone your layout skills. Too many wraps feature wonderful textures, bevels, letter treatments and such but fail in...
  14. Gerber Omega 4.0 users...quick question

Fred, the first suggestion we had already tried. No go. Your second suggestion is a winner! Now, is this something we're going to have to "live with"? Or is Gerber working on a fix? Do you happen to know?
  15. Gerber Omega 4.0 users...quick question

Is anyone else having this particular glitch? Certain times text won't ungroup. When you go to Smart Edit, the options are greyed out. As if Smart Edit has already been removed. But when you double click on the text, sure enough, you go back to the text entry dialog box, no problem. My problem...

    Bingo! Thanks so much!
  17. Font i.d. Help

  18. Why sell equipment and not shop?

This is something I'm going thru at this very moment. One needs to do their "due dillingence" and check to see if there is outstanding taxes, unresolved L&I claims, lawsuits pending, and kind of encumbrances, equipment liens, equipment pledged as security for loans, broken leases, etc...
  19. Shovelhead

You know the Boy Scout motto, "be prepared". Ahem. Have fun. Be careful.
