  2. Bumping Heads w/ the Internet

WestPoint, don't "bump heads with Internet" or anybody for that matter. And here's a deep, dark secret. Customer's lie. Yep, that's right. Lie. Or they conveniently forget that to get those prices they actually had to buy 500 signs. And send in their own print/ready artfiles. Forget those...
  3. Credit card sales?

I don't think you can operate without taking CC's in this day and age. Clients are more inclined to buy, and buy more when they know they can "charge it". Most sign shop's margins can be adjusted to allow for this "cost of doing business" expense.
  4. Gerber Omega 4.0.0.1165 refresh-redraw problem

Running 4.0 and have not encountered that.
  5. Summajet 1330?

Welcome to the forum. Suggestion: You may want to put something regarding your actual topic in the subject line, rather than "anyone".

Randy, oh Randy where are you?
  7. pinchroller error on SP-300V

First off, I feel your frustration coming through. But I wouldn't lay the blame for your troubles at the door of Roland, the manufacturer. 1) Let me assure you Roland is not junk! Way too many satisfied users around the globe. They make some of the very best equipment. 2) Not all "tech's"...
  8. Wet or Dry install... Which do you prefer?

Yeah, it's kinda like "which is better to use, a nail or a screw"? Depends greatly on the application. On large windows with a single large piece of vinyl, we would go wet with rapid tac. Cut-out vinyl letters, dry app. Wraps, dry app. Covering an entire 4'x8 or larger with a single...
  9. So... I guess I am getting into screen printing

Good luck with the venture. Hope you do a whole lot better than me. Had three machines, one a six color, conveyor dryer, etc. in the 80's. Lots of people working for me, but never made any money. Not to rain on your parade. We may have been set up all wrong. We were printing for re-sellers...
  10. double sided banner question.

Yep, the tape is double-sided. Just be sure to press it together real good.
  11. Huge corrugated plastic sign-need help with quote

Are you a professional or not? If your customer wants coro and won't listen to ten good reasons why it's a bad choice, then don't do the job!!! Think of it this way. If you wanted wiring done in your home and told the electrician whom you were thinking of hiring "put in lightweight stranded...
  12. double sided banner question.

Just finished a 3'x8' double sided banner not more than 60 minutes ago. It was done as (2) individual banners. Use banner hem tape all around the perimeter to bond them together, then brass grometts thru and thru. It's heavy enough that way it won't need the folded over hem. We've also printed...
  13. Signs of needing a new printhead or servicing?

That's quite a bit of drop-out on the Yellow/Magenta head. Do you have an earlier test print to compare it with, to see if it's truly getting worse? As it is, my guess is that the head is damaged in those areas. But it could be simply that the nozzles are plugged up. What you could try is...

No expert here, but have you tried re-loading Versaworks?

We made an initial offer, but unfortuately the terms were not accepted. It went back and forth a few times but we came to an informal agreement the week before last. Meeting with our attorney again in the morning to formalize. I've already begun tearing out areas for it, and building...
  16. EFI Rastek H650

Gosh, Korey, don't know a thing about Rastek but if the machine is giving acceptable quality for 5" I wouldn't think it had anything to do with defective heads. Sounds more like a supply problem to those heads. Sorry to hear of your troubles, dude. I'm of no help.

  18. fire dept wouldn't put the fire out...

That's not a workable idea. Here's why: Suppose the firefighter is injured in the course of putting out that fire. Or dies. The first thing the insurance carrier they have is going to say is, "did this injury (or death) occur in the course of his normally scheduled duties?" Ah...no, he was...
  19. fire dept wouldn't put the fire out...

You hit the nail on the head. Free world. Where you're free to make decisions about how you will care for your own personal property. (his house) Not ask everyone else to care (pay) for your choices. Guy declined to pay for protection that was offered at $6.50 per month. Now he whines. And...
  20. I have scratched my head(s)

Here's one thing to think about. You may be able to R & R the heads, but the head alignment will be a problem for you. We had a tech replace a head on the Roland (four weeks ago) and the other head must also be sync'ed. Looked fairly complicated, but good luck if you do try it.
