  1. Encoder Strip Problems-Help

Hmmm....there's also the little encoder strip reader. Forget what it's called but it's the eye that reads the strip. That too can get dusty and need to be cleaned. Maybe some compressed air sprayed on it?
  2. buying artwork

OntarioSignGirl, yeah, the words, "artwork" and "copyright" seem to push buttons around here. Don't take it real personal. Some of our forum members earn their living dealing with these and other peripheral areas. So their radar goes up instantly. Regarding ethics and integrity, yeah I hear...
  3. buying artwork

I once borrowed a color, but I put it back right away.
  4. Roland Please Cut Where I Tell You to Cut

One other thing that occured to me is this. Are you being certain to do a Environmental Match prior to cutting? Do this every time you cut a job!!!! If the material has been out of the machine, allowed to dry, laminated and then fed back into the machine, temperature and other conditions in...
  5. external hard drives...

Marlene, our NAS is 4 TB consisting of (4) 1TB drives. Simultaneously always writing to a mirror disk, every save, every change. They're all locked with separate keys, into an enclosure (Thicus) which keeps track of the internal temperatures, etc. I feel reasonably safe with this setup, but...
  6. Roland Please Cut Where I Tell You to Cut

or....could simply be the muffler bearings. Hi, and welcome from the great Pacific Northwest. Trying slowing your speed to 10, if that corrects the mis-cuts even a little bit, my guess is that the vinyl with laminate (especially gloss laminate) is slipping some under the pinch rollers.
  7. Is this crossing the line?

Oh...the font that I found was called IFC Railroad Bold.
  8. Is this crossing the line?

Ok here it is. I added the border (it had none) and the little reverse at the bottom and the oval. Other than that, I'm showing the business card converted to a 4x8.
  9. Is this crossing the line?

Thanks Mosh, but my question pertains to the legality of using the font, not the "ugliness" of the sign.
  10. Is this crossing the line?

No I didn't have a chance to look at the other jobs. These kids don't live in my area, so I imagine they went to their local sign guy. Dad (my friend) is surprising them with this sign. Probably throw it in his pickup on Christmas morning and drive down to see them.
  11. New to the Forums

Good to have you. I'm north of you a hundred miles.
  12. Is this crossing the line?

Was asked to create a 4'x8 sign by a friend at a Christmas party the other day. His kids have a business and he wants to make a gift of it to them this holiday. He handed me a card that they use and said it should look like that. I took a bit of artisitic license and improved it...
  13. Hard Drive Recovery

We've used our local computer shop. About $265.00 but they got it all back. Then of course, invest in an external HD with backup.
  14. Our Annual Parade Float

Great job. You carried it off well, especially under the gun like that. Thank goodness for digital printers, eh?
  15. orajet 3850 okay to laminate with oragaurd 210

We do. Haven't had any call backs yet, been doing it about three years or so.
  16. Does this look like infringement to you?

I think you're really stretching on that one. If your eye tells you my "s" looks like either the Specialized "s" or the Speed "s", I'd say it could use some training in font recognition and spacial perception. As I stated in that same thread (with tongue tucked securely into cheek) we stole...
  17. Does this look like infringement to you?

Looking thru some marketing materials today and saw this ad from Summa. Seems like the folks at Guitar Hero might taka a dim view of this. What are your thoughts? Does it cross the line? (apologies if this has been discussed before)
  18. logo infringement

Hey! Knock it off. We stole our logo from a different company, not Speed Energy. 'Sides we pre-date him by about 10 years.
  19. Beware of ADT

Kind of agree with most of the respondents thus far. We use a different company and have been happy with them. Not to be unsympathetic but always read contracts. It's not their problem you're one year into a five year deal and now want out. Salesmen will say nearly anything to make a sale...
  20. Funny thing going on in Photoshop. Help?

Ok that worked. The new document for some reason had it's mode at grey scale. And 8bit/channel. I've changed it to RGB and 16 bit/channel. Are those good settings?
