I'm a little mystified by all this fancy prep work. If you're going to leaf it, by rights it shouldn't even be touched let alone knocked around. Why would it need a tough skin if you're not supposed to touch it? What is the intended use of this roadrunner?
I like Colins.... very classy.
Is this guy taking pictures of babies at the mall or doing weddings or kids birthdays or................. what? Wouldn't that effect the logo design?
So... what was the title of this thread again..... Oh yes: 14' box truck, cut vinyl pricing? And what was it you called the original poster? Oh right.... a fool. And I'm the jerk? Riiiiiiiight.
Leaf it with palladium. Silver will turn black.
If you're gonna hit golf balls or moor a boat with it I guess you should glass the thing. Painting it with resin won't toughen it up much. When you squeeze or bump it it will crack with just resin.
Yep. Did one for a plumber 2 weeks ago. His wife thought it looked "too gaudy" at the proper size. Actually I was being a bit facecious.... the one I did was actually 6'x3'. I thought it looked stupid but hey, I got paid.
So I did 18 sq feet per side, 2 colours and a smaller one on the back...
Magic sculpt is a bit like old, dry chewing gum. I don't think you'd be very happy with it for a hard coat. If you're silver leafing this you won't need a hard coat anyway. The silver would be damaged long before anything got to damage the foam. Just give it a few good coats of primer and paint...
Wow! Some responders didn't read the first post very carefully. It's cut vinyl. (one guy even had him laminating it) He doesn't give even a hint of how much coverage he's talking about. It could be 2' x 4' for all we know. Damn good money for that coverage.
Thanks Jimmy. Everyone seems to like those posts.
The sign is double faced. I used 1" HDU panels with two 1" square steel tubes sandwiched between. Little tabs welded on each end of the tubes allow bolting the sign in place.
I like making double faced signs with two separate panels because I...
I think a lot of that 9serf stuff is way overdone and hard to read. The logo section has some simple effective logos that are truely excellent but the "million effects" stuff isn't as good. Or at least it isn't my cup o' tea. The video stuff is awesome.
