  1. "No Guns Allowed" logo design challenge

I designed a decal based loosely on a Beretta 9mm and spring assisted SOG knife with Tanto blade. Did I go to far?
  2. Need help with GX-640 calibration

Sooo...how is accuracy on long cuts? 8' or more.
  3. Best bang for the buck?

For what she wants to do my suggestion is perfect. You do not need the laminate as the 3164 prints amazingly well. We've done wall art for corporate offices with it.
  4. Vehicle Outlines

X2 We take a couple other "hard" dims to double check our scaling. We've also used Sticky Yard.
  5. Best bang for the buck?

We have an SP540V. (don't buy photo paper because you think you need it) Here is our recipe.(shown to us by an offset guy no less) Oracal 3164 matte with 5mil embossed laminate. Gives a high end studio look.
  6. Roland SP-540V and almost entire print shop

Maybe check ebay? Only look at completed auctions/sales. Askin' is different than gettin'.
  7. Satin Guard Wrap

    Neat idea. Somebody was thinking.
  8. Fair Banner Printing Pricing.

You understand the point I was trying to make. Things have changed and will continually evolve. Wife and I subscribe to the multiple streams of income mindset. It's why I weld for hire.
  9. Fair Banner Printing Pricing.

We need to sell value not price. Gino's comment about this forum being the most widely read and it's potential negative effects may have merit. If so then we must all strive to post absolutely nothing about our business, ever. No more talking about products or techniques used, ever...
  10. Fair Banner Printing Pricing.

Our forum has nothing to do with banner printing being in the "toilet" as you claim. Far to easy to Google or Bing cheap banners and find dozens of places selling direct to the public. The age of the internet is both blessing and curse. It has flattened the earth at the same time exposing us...
  11. A little rant

If the quote is accepted do the job. I realize we all have standards, but standards don't feed me or heat the house.
  12. Fair Banner Printing Pricing.

IIRC in the back of the last trade mags you can get finished banners 95 cents a square foot. Order your banners then move on to the nesxt job while someone else does the printing/finishing.
  13. Need Help Purchasing new Printer

Fix what you have. You'll be further ahead. We own a SP540V, and while it prints extremely well it prints slowly.
  14. changing pinch roller assemblies, How?

You only replace the wheels on the far left/right, not the entire assembly. Be aware there are right and left wheels. (expensive too) May want to order a couple extra C-clips also.
  15. Sq Ft Charges

To say no one on this forum has done cost/value/pricing calculations is absurd. At any rate you missed the point I was trying to make. Depending on where you are in the good ol' USA determines, to a large extent, what you have to charge to keep the doors swingin'. Clientele also plays a large...
  16. Dreamscape

We sub out odd requests like wallpaper. Not worth the learning curve/carrying costs unless it will be a steady seller.
  17. Sq Ft Charges

Not rude to ask for pricing, just goofy. Every market is different as well as every job. Trying to nail down a set price only works with raw materials when figuring input costs. After that it costs what it costs to complete the job to the clients satisfaction. You can really back yourself...
  18. Used Roland VP 540; should I buy it with the following issues...?

He bought it from an auction where it sat for who knows how long then it sat some more. It's a roach only worth what you could get for salvageable parts. Offer him a couple hundred in light of ProWraps selling 3 functioning latex printers at 5 grand a pop.
  19. What to charge for flatbed cutting?

Certain costs are unavoidable and sometimes forgotten. One of them would be "make ready" time followed by clean up. Never underestimate the cost of tooling. Always add for substrates that "kill" cutters. Do you send tools out for sharpening? If so you need to spend extra time in the program...
