  1. Looking for money clipart

Grab a stack of bills. Scatter them on a table. Take photo. Photoshop. I learned this a long time ago. Many times you will waste more time looking for something done than doing it yourself. And more often than not the art you find is copyrighted so you get to pay for it.
  2. Cast Hell

I personally don't sharpen. I buy a case at a time from Lidco. So inexpensive it's not worth your time trying to save one.
  3. Aftermarket Ink? Need Advice?

Holy Smokes ink by the liter! Baller status right there. There was one ink that our tech said looked promising, but he had a melt down and is no longer a tech. He never said what it was because I think he was involved with its development. It's a shame. Guy was a genius when it came to...
  4. Aftermarket Ink? Need Advice?

Answer this question truthfully: How many actual square feet are you getting per 3rd party cart? Square footage per cart was way down in our experience. When I get calls to use someones ink they are quick to say: "It's exactly like OEM". So I ask them if they'll warranty like OEM. Seems...
  5. Stencils

Find a local sheet metal shop that has a laser or waterjet.
  6. a heat gun for me?

This was what I mentioned in a previous post: http://www.masterappliance.com/content/proheat%C2%AE-stc%E2%84%A2-heat-gun-0
  7. Extended Warranty, Worth it??

IMO extended warranties are not worth it in most instances. Whenever I buy something and they push the extra warranty I counter with: "By offering this extended warranty you feel the equipment I bought is failure prone".(always fun to make them squirm) It is a huge money maker plain and...
  8. Optically Centered?

My pet term is Visually Correct. If it looks perfect it is perfect. I've done layouts that look visually "centered" yet if you put a tape to them you'd be scratching your head. Sometimes ya gotta leave the tape measure in the toolbox and let psychology take over.
  9. Aftermarket Ink? Need Advice?

Here it what I know from experience. When we switched to 3rd party inks we used more, a lot more. Which in turn minimized savings. Overspray caused by particle containing VOC's literally stopped our printer. Absolute mess and hours upon spent cleaning just to get it to function. Carts would...
  10. Odd magnet question?

Check the door with a magnet. Just because your Mom never wrecked it doesn't mean the lot boy didn't back into it when it was new. Dealer will fix it and not say a word. Fact.
  11. a heat gun for me?

IIRC Master Heat has a new heat gun with integrated surface heat reading/laser. Set your desired temp on the readout and the laser shows where you are heating and how hot it's getting.
  12. Guess who is going to MSU and why?

Nice. Kids goin' places being able to play like that. "I love being a doctor. It would be even better if I didn't have to deal with sick people all of the time". - Frank Burns from M.A.S.H.:Big Laugh
  13. how to get good Black to Red gradient?

For flawless gradients in Illustrator use the blend tool.
  14. Sewing Banners?

For one or two banners we use hem tape and do them in house. Three banners or more they get subbed out. Easier, more profitable and way less headaches. At one time I wanted to do absolutely everything in house. Why give money away right? Wrong. Everything has an opportunity cost. Google...
  15. Extremely Fast Wide Format

Slick! “Those who say it can't be done are usually interrupted by others doing it.” - James Baldwin
  16. Internal illumination inside printer

Not sure if the question was directed to me, but I'll answer anyway. The rope lights just plug in. When I go by the printer in the morning I just plug them in. If I forget to unplug them they only draw 9 or 10 watts.
  17. Exterior sign panel choices

We've used foam pvc with great results. I usually dado posts/frames so it can slide in and not be bothered by temperature as much. I would imagine you could glue up a couple 6mm sheets to get the thickness.
  18. Internal illumination inside printer

I lit up my SP540V with a 5 meter string of LED rope light from WalMart.(get the bright white) Cost a whole $14. Some sticky tabs, zip ties and half an hour it was done. There is enough of a gap on the back side under the ink carts to fish the plug through.
  19. Roland VersaWorks update Problems

If you have an older Roland do not get the updates. At a certain point Roland no longer releases valid updates. All you end up doing is wasting drive space and creating problems. Been there done that. A top level tech alerted us when we started having issues after an update. No more updates...
  20. Only buy HP Latex inks from dealer who sold you machine?

It's true you can buy ink from whomever you please. The wise decision is to buy from the people that sold you the machine and will perform warranty service. Buy everything from them at least until the end of warranty. Why create headaches for yourself? Think about what I said...
