  1. Extra Photoshop Tips when Resizing Images

We do all our tweaking in PS before sending to Perfect Resize. It works well for the things we do. We also resize in one shot. Every time a file is manipulated there is more of a chance to lose information/quality. Proved it time and again in one of my college courses.
  2. SP540V black print problems

Nope. We set it about a sixteenth inch above and don't let it touch as a rule. The couple times they did touch didn't seem to cause issues. I just don't like it touching because of all the other chemicals in it.
  3. Gallery wrap pricing?

Soooo Bob how many of these do you do a day at $83? Saying you will do them for that price all day and actually making a living on them are worlds apart, no? BTW Too many folks don't give a rats rump about quality. Their rally cry: "How cheap can I get this done".
  4. Flames for truck

Ahhhh sooo. I see said the blind man. Never thought about a "selection" being used to define a contour like that. Thank you very much for taking the time to post pics and explanation.

  6. Flames for truck

Neat! Could you explain your process a little? Looks like a tablet was used.
  7. Tips for vehicle care after graphics are applied?

I tell them to treat it just like custom paint. No automatic car washes, no pressure washing, no harsh cleaners etc...
  8. Time to get legal in X5 ... or just upgrade at a massive discount.

    When does the deal expire?
  9. why cant I fix this

I have an RS so I speak from experience. You must have an ABSOLUTELY square clean edge to start, period. By square I mean your lead edge must be 90 degrees to either the right or left side. The lead edge must also be dead flat, period. Here is what you do. 1) Make sure you have a perfectly...
  10. Gallery wrap pricing?

THIS^^^^^^^ Thanks for reiterating a condensed version of my experience. Although it is fun watching him rationalize why it will work when he doesn't even own a printer.
  11. Gallery wrap pricing?

Hate to wet on your picnic charcoal, but you needed to hear this: I just checked canvasdiscount. A 30 x 20 for $49. Places like that are why I don't even bother. We have a $45 minimum charge at our shop. Why? Well it comes from piddly little things like insurance(business, health and shop...
  12. Suggestions for starting a Roland print shop with Caldera rather than VersaWorks.

Free is always good and VW is getting better. You can always upgrade at a later date. Boss may even give you a bonus for being frugal.

  14. SP540V black print problems

I hang fabric softener sheets across the back of my printer. They need to be almost touching the vinyl. There are more elegant solutions but I'm cheap and they're always in stock. Plus we rarely have static issues. We closely monitor temperature and more importantly humidity. You never...
  15. Printing / Contour Cutting Issue with two different machines

You may be able to work around it by detecting marks manually. You would print your marks then manually set each base point on the Roland. Roland has a multiple base point setting for doing this although we have never used it. I'm not explaining it very well. We had tried setting up an old...
  16. Gallery wrap pricing?

Here is what I know about folks in my area. They will go to Walmart or Woodmans grocery store before they will pay what I need to get. At this point when they call for that service I automatically tell them where to get it done. I can't compete. At least they appreciate my honesty and will...
  17. Poster Printer

Latex. I talked to BigFish about this very same thing. He ran the numbers for me and latex came out on top. I run a Roland and it is expensive to run posters besides having to wait for them to dry. We did a batch of 62 posters and had to hang them on a makeshift clothesline in the shop. No fun.
  18. SP540V black print problems

Overspray is usually the result of static. Cyan printing black after sitting for a day or two indicates a bad cap top.
  19. Verscamm media tracking off to left

If the problem showed up after wheel replacement, are pinch wheels installed correctly? The taper needs to run to the outside.
  20. I love 3M.

Thanks Gino. Don't know why I find that name amusing. Haven't even had a drink yet.
