my jv3 was bypassed to print with the cover open, as well. BUT there should be a magnetic clip on the right side of the cover that sits in place on the machine, that could rattle itself to trigger the sensor. maybe try reseating the clip and/or putting a piece of duct tape over it to lock in...

how about the cover? also, they could seem fine but maybe there's a loose connection in the wiring that's causing it to trip?

outsource to a flatbed printer or do what I do, print full 4'.25''x8'.25" sheets and use your laminator to apply like a "big squeegee". then cut-down the coroplast to size.

i haven't tried it, but I can only imagine that applying transluscent films to glow in the dark vinyl will not only diffuse the glow but inhibit the material from recharging as well... effectively killing the glow in the dark effect. I think that's why you always just see the yellow/green...

got some screenshots? maybe try saving as a .pdf? This clips the file to the size/contents of the artboard, whereas .ai & .eps includes everything outside of the artboard. regardless, i'm a big fan of taking complex .AI artwork layouts and just bringing in to photoshop to flatten. just a thought.
