  3. long prints getting ruined?

cloth basket could work, but you will still run into the issue where the printed faces touch each other. apologies for offsite link: quick ebay search shows that $400 gets you a nice take-up reel.
  4. long prints getting ruined?

print at higher temps and slower speeds if you feel you have to let your print hit the ground. this also allows you the time to hand-roll it up while it prints, if you feel like it is your only option. otherwise, get a take-up system
  5. Anyone have tips on wrapping a steel drum?

+1 to simply wrapping in 3-sections and avoiding the ribs all-together. you can always overlay strips over the ribs before/after if you'd like to give them some color as well.
  6. media issue

the "high performance calendared" has worked great for me, as well. flat-surfaces only, and make sure you don't stretch it while laminating/applying, and it will be very good to you. I have some large projects up using this material, up to 4 years old, and not a bit of lifting/shrinkage and...
  7. Material for Wall Graphics

phototex is nice stuff. ultraflex wallscapes media is great too, i use both, and I've heard good stuff about korographics as well.
  8. media issue

calendared vinyl shrinks over time, by nature of the product get cast vinyl if you do not like this, or at least laminate with cast overlaminate to delay the issue a year more or so. 3165RA is more expensive because it has air release... still a calendared vinyl, however.

digital = versatility screen = durability
  10. Dimensional Virgin. Mounting Help Please

i'll pre-fill my holes for interior applications, where being a little "messy" is unacceptable, and exposed silicone is an eye-sore. nice tip for this too: don't use the caulk gun to fill holes, too hard to control. fill a ziplock baggie with silicone, and clip the tip. Use like a cake-icer...
  11. Dimensional Virgin. Mounting Help Please

+1 to silicone i drill my holes, remove the pattern, and shove the studs of the letters into the silicone tube as i squeeze the trigger slightly while I draw the stud out of the tube. This way, when you shove the letter/studs into your drilled holes, it not only fills the hole with...
  12. don't try this at home

if I had one, I would use the BS to mask my cut vinyl but then apply the masked vinyl with a tape-hinge and a regular squeegee. additional note: for large cut-vinyl applications, I hinge as one piece but then slice the mask in 2-3 letter segments and apply in sections. much easier to handle...

illustrator and photoshop are essential bridge is nice to have for quick browsing of files and acrobat professional is a nice one, as well, for creating .pdf packages for multi-page documents. also, get CadTools from hotdoor.com. great plugin for illustrator, although they don't have support...
  15. CRAZY banding out of nowhere...

air bubble in the cyan ink supply? might be worth flushing the ink line, but i would double-check that your dampers are seated properly and the connections are snug before doing so.
  16. Revamping those boring vehicle wrap pics!

+1 like it! especially the godzilla background, hah!
  17. Decided to upgrade as well... Have two working setups for sale.

can't wait to upgrade myself. hackintosh with essentially those same parts are on my horizon. can't beat $100 for a decent computer tho. unfortunately, i just loaded up my shop computers with some newegg finds, or i'd pick them up myself.
  18. DX4 printheads

china. a bunch. seriously tho', merchant member here will hook you up. don't buy from sign supply catalogs, as they cost twice as much.
  19. Silicone Printing?

aye, its gotta be a mold or screen printed to molded blank bracelets. very cheap to make if you're ordering in bulk. doubt that there's a MM here selling these, but feel free to protest: wrist-band.com like $.50-$1 each after shipping.
