  6. Transparent background in Illustrator

in Photoshop, go to the help menu, select "export transparent background wizard", follow the few easy steps. & you will have an .eps file that you can place over yellow or anything else. What the "wizard" does is just to create a vector path & then create a mask with it like Fred suggested...
  7. Tile Overlaps - Setting Up

If I were doing that, I would open in Photoshop, "save as" a copy with another name, then I would "crop" down to 52" ...Then I'd do the same with the other image. Then I'd open the originals again, "save as" another name, "crop" both of them to 21" (some overlap) & then I would resize the canvas...
  8. Dislike Flexi

Flexi's strengths lie in it's sign specific features. I wouldn't say Corel and Illustrator cost 10% to 20% of what the "big boys" charge. I would say they ARE the big boys of general vector based illustration programs. Flexi, Signlab, or Omega are not in the same category. They are not trying...

  10. HDU advice please

I only have a few HDU signs under my belt, but I usually use Jay Cooke's high build primer. I've also followed the experienced advice of others & skipped the primer altogether sometimes, like in a situation where the paint was just about the same color as the raw HDU, & the sign was up high &...

  13. Pnc-1050

friction feed plotters can cut several sizes of material including smallish scraps, but for long cuts, you need to be able to manually get the material loaded in straight or it could go off track and spoil a cut after carving up a chunk of material. The sprocket plotters can only cut 15" in...
  14. Pnc-1050

I had the PNC-1050 when I started out. It ran very well for me, but I upgraded to a 24" Graphtec, & later sold the Roland since I never used it once I got the Graphtec. So many sign jobs were more efficient to cut out of 24" material & of course the ones that were best cut from 15" rolls were...

  16. Production Manager not taking settings

Make sure your devices are still "installed" or selected or whatever... I once had an issue where a check box got toggled off on a device & almost everything looked the same (the device was still listed) but it didn't work the same, then I noticed the checkbox.

  20. font ID request

Another one of the many files I lost in my "great data-loss crisis of 2005" was one which used as font I don't remember using before or since. I hope to recreate the look I had done on previous signs for this client & since whatthefont didn't recognize these, I wondered if anyone here would?
