  1. Graphtech Vs. Designtech

I just opened the box for my CS2 suite last week & haven't played around with it much... but I think you are correct to some degree... BUT what will you do with that vector information? You still need a program that can communicate with your plotter. Yes, I think the quality is comparable...
  2. Need Flexi Design Help

hey Ron... ...the edit button is down in the corner next to the quote button (for a limited time only) oh, your welcome by the way... nice job!

wow... thats cool.. software plug-ins to cut from illustrator?? will my old CE 1000-60 be able to use one of those plug-ins? Can I get one? how much?
  4. Need Flexi Design Help

closer, but resqfiremedic steered you wrong on just one step... DON'T rotate "UTILITY" ... you need to distort it with a tool like the one Illustrator calls the shear tool. See how in "ENGINE"... the vertical strokes are still vertical? I can't say the original design is anything great, but if...
  5. Old Newbie...

this is the easiest forum to post a picture... click on the advanced reply instead of the quick reply... give the screen a chance to redraw fully, & scroll down below the reply text entry field to locate a "manage attachments" button. This brings up an interface where you browse your computer...
  6. Graphtech Vs. Designtech

No! all plotters cut from "vector" files. Photoshop is not a vector based program. While it may have remote similarities in the use of paths... Photoshop is a pixel based program & will most likely never be suitable for outputting graphics to any vinyl cutting device. Illustrator is an...
  7. Opinion question about phone numbers

I think bob makes a good point, but I also think that in my case most of my clients who even ask for an area code in their sign, are using the one & only Hawaii area code. In this case, I think the parenthesis serve a purpose as a familiar tool for sorting information & allows the viewer to...
  8. New guy, old questions

Do you have the "symbol" font? I used a 4B & by programing the x and y moves... using the diagonal line, quarter-round... & various other basic shapes (arrows stars, etc) it was fun to create more complex layouts with borders, reverse panels, even simple shaped geometric based logos. In my...
  9. Whats This?

Edwin, I tried to email you the vector file to save you a few steps if you need to typeset that... but I got Fred's email instead since you are not set up to receive emails at this site. I sent it to him to forward, but I see now that he didn't need my copy. You probably didn't need it either...

i'm no expert... but times new roman looks close enough for most of the people i deal with. (by the way, sorry about that spelling comment the other day  ) :Big Laugh

  14. New here from Florida

and he strangles himself with perfectly good snakes... I mean surrounds himself with snakes. Hey Bob, glad you wandered on over. Fred does have an up & coming challenger on font recognition too... I know you've done business with the vector doctor, anyway, vdoc (vector doctor's username) is...

Great Idea Colin! well thought out presentation, I wish the best success... I think that was an idea with potential, & I hope you find it to be so. (I wonder if you may have to define "within reason" at some point though )
  16. New here, less than a year in the sign biz<m>

sounds good Sarah! Good Luck. around here, everyone is on "Maui Time" so it is often joked about (except by those suffering the consequences) that all you have to do is "show up" & you are way ahead of the competition. After 10 years, I still feel that being willing to go the extra mile keeps...
  17. New here, less than a year in the sign biz<m>

I think "overcrowded with customers" was what was meant... not with other sign shops (there's only 2 of them)
  18. font question

Thanks guys! I just closed the deal on 3K worth of digital prints mounted to PVC for a one day event at the Ritz. The font may be Fugly, but some clients like this one... I just give them what they ask for. In this case they need me to use the 2 lines (shown above) that they provided me a...
  19. Corel 9 and font /design help needed asap

also if you are done typesetting & spellchecking a job that you need to take, or send, elsewhere... get in the habit of saving a second production file with all text converted to outlines. This will save you many future setbacks like the one being discussed.
