  1. snowy log cabin look

    Sub out the design.
  2. Fabrication?

That is a really nice fab job. We have made these roof brackets with slotted angle bolted at the corners. Mount the slotted angle on the roof (put a piece of rubber roof membrane down first and seal the penetrations well.). Then you adjust the other two pieces to level and the thru bolt the...
  3. My beautiful sign ruined!!

That's slick. We don't have welding in house and when we've had to just bolted together a frame, everything is buried and locked by the glue anyhow.
  4. My beautiful sign ruined!!

I like that internal frame, the more metal the better. Swing signs should be heavy.
  5. Thought it was an easy one...

    That looks good, thanks
  6. Thought it was an easy one...

When I looked at this I thought I definitely had it, but after much searching I have some close but not the same. Fontidentifier didn't find it. Any ideas?
  7. Life size double sided cut out . How to stand?

Slot the bottom and have a slotted piece that runs perpendicular and locks into the slot on the figure, like these old cardboard dolls
  8. Coro sign pricing

"I think sub-contracting can be a good idea sometimes. But you are giving your customers name and what he buys to another shop." Not a problem if you use true wholesalers like the merchant members here. There are only a few local shops I sub to (Hi Bruce) and I trust them.
  9. How to drum up business...

The old stand-by is to stop in any place who's sign is shot and offer a price on a new one. Bring your portfolio and proposal form. As for delivery/lettering trucks on site, I charge more.

Unless it's a good customer I have a minimum of 10 and sub it.
  13. Decorative street post production, removal and installation bid

When I worked at a municipal sign shop we had something like that for pulling u channels. But how does it work on a 3' deep concreted base?
  14. Avenue Banner Brackets

I like the spring base brackets. They still use the fiberglass poles, but they hold up well.
  15. Help Pricing Used LED back lit sign

Wow, that's great. So you removed it and brought it to your shop and then advertised it (on craigslist?)? You were able to strip the 8'x11' face and relettered with translucent? Did you re-install it?
  16. Best Blade for Wall Saw

What size is it? I think ours is 8 1/4" or some such odd size which makes it difficult to find blades other than those made for panel saws.
  17. Protecting your artwork

Interesting read, but if the city has any paper trail that they were thinking of something like that prior to his presentation than I think he is out of luck. I mean, big block illuminated letters is not exactly an original concept. I hope they follow up with the results.
  18. Protecting your artwork

I can copyright, watermark, pixelate, handcuff...whatever I want to do. If I give someone a design without getting paid I am accepting the chance that they could steal it. If I want to spend the time and money (including lost time and money) to chase them for it I can. But it's happened so few...
  19. Favorite Brushed aluminum/silver vinyl?

    R-Tape's
  20. DRY APPLY ONLY WITH REFLECTIVE Anyone know why?

As was said, it's multiple layers and one of those layers is "metallic". Rapid Tac claims to be safe for reflective, and there have been a few occaisions where we had to use it. No negative results that I know of.
