No more than any other clear coat. I really don't see much of a difference.
We usually edge print these so it's not the type of material that has the clear already applied.

Build the table any way you like, with or without a seam and then throw a one piece self healing mat on top.
You can use some double stick tape to keep it in place. Ours last years.
Actually I find that when clients ask about "real" gold leaf for a vehicle or flat sign most are now referring to SignGold.
The other brand that looks good is called Realgold
I have a good client who wants a 100 or so T shirts for an event in 10 days....

Stopped down to this area on the water for lunch today. Nice enough to sit on the deck and admire these signs I painted 20+ years ago.
Considering they're exposed to salt spray and full sun they are holding up OK. Even weathered out they still work and add to the ambiance of the building.

I would try without anything first. Just the two pieces back to back.
If that doesn't work use some thin tape, banner tape would probably be fine, to mount shims just where it's hidden by the retainer.
Must be something wrong with me. I find it boring, nothing about gets across the "Dimensional" aspect.
I'd look at some simple prismatic fonts that look good on a logo and "customize" the name. Maybe some LHF fonts.
There's a few Gerber Edge users here, including the site admin Fred. I have had just about 20 years. Back when we got it we did everything with it including tour buses and tractor trailers. Now we still use it for a lot of vehicle lettering
