  4. Which Eye One For Linearizing Profiles?

the eyeone is what you're after. you can use it to profile most RIPs media and print configurations. we also have the gretag-macbeth spectrolino/spectroscan, a great automatic reader table, but they have dropped support and do not provide drivers for anything above windows XP.
  5. Temporary graphics on escalator handrails...

neat gallery of them here... http://www.escalated.com.au/gallery.html
  6. many files coming in from designers have duplicate cutlines

i know our plotter software sees strokes as duplicate objects (example: an illustrator created circle with a fill color and a stroke color = double cuts, the fill cuts in one direction, the stroke repeats in the opposite direction), so we always check that cut files have no stroke color selected.
  7. Best settings for printing a gradient on the Edge?

for Edge printing gradients i like to keep a low LPI (big dots). the old Omega software had incremental steps at 16, 21.2, 32, 53, 70.7, and 106.1 LPI. i normally prefer 21.2, especially at a distance, super clean halftone, no banding or dropout gets noticed. i also keep a printed sample...
  8. 1005ezRS print problem... anyone?

looks like contaminant on the surface of the vinyl causing the ink to "fish eye" away from the problem areas. your supplier should be able to work this out with you and Avery. check lot #s on labels and see if you have another roll outside that group that prints better.

  15. InDesign - How to save hi-res pdf @ 10% scale

i 2nd Andy Warp's comments. in large format printing, working from an InDesign file is a hassle. it's easier to just rebuild in illustrator. this way you are basically preflighting the files by recreating them and ensuring you have little to no problems when it's time to print.
  16. Onyx Pre-flight not showing image

    glad i could help
  17. Onyx Pre-flight not showing image

there is a maximum file size that it will allow you to save as, go over that limit and you're stuck with the 3 'save as' options you have. if your current save doesn't work, try dropping the resolution, then re-saving like you would your normal workflow, and see if that outputs correctly...
  18. Onyx Pre-flight not showing image

i have good results saving compressed *.TIFs w LZW image compression, interleaved, PC byte order, RLE layer compression. saving as a flattened *.TIF for print output may reduce file size too. another option would be to save as *.EPS from Photoshop with 8-bit/pixel tiff preview and jpeg max...
  19. Onyx Pre-flight not showing image

a few things to check... has this happened before? is your RIP station equipped with enough RAM to handle such large files (do you normally work with files that large)? can you open the customer supplied file(s) in Photoshop, and it looks correct there? do other files open and...
  20. equipment numbers
