  4. My Gerber Edge LE is in a beeping mood lately

ours had a worn ribbon cable from repeat open/close (pinching or awkward bending?) that eventually gave out. new cable and runs like a champ.
  5. Other ways to print LexEdge?

another way to look at that project (that i have done for larger dashboard/ control panels), is to print on your normal vinyl and top laminate it w the lexan type media. we have digitally printed files, then used a 5mil and even 10mil polycarb laminate, thru cut on the plotters, and works like...

  10. Just like grayscale... but red

save raster continuous image as bitmap, assign spot color to bitmap, print. if it's vector graphics, assign spot color, adjust spot color fill % for each object as desired, print.
  11. What do you do with this happens?

agree, not sure if you can salvage the already printed item. i'd first try to remove all loose strands around the head, pinch rollers, and print area to avoid a major problem. then if you can free out the lead of string so it falls free loose away from material feed you should be ok. may need...

  13. Onyx print information log?

i just use ms paint since it's a basic capture of what is onscreen. part of my workflow is before i send preflight jobs to print, i press "printscreen" key on keyboard (top row) to copy to clipboard, then paste into blank paint document. it will only "save" visual of whichever tab i happen to...
  14. Onyx print information log?

it's not too bad if you have a recent RIP you can (re-)edit in preflight to review settings, but if it's an older RIP that you don't have in active queue, i haven't been able to find all the data i'd like to review like the original post above. our old 3M scotchprint 9500 and 2000 RIP used to...

  17. "Snow Dots"

it may be dust on the media before it's printed. if it was a long streak it could be a dirty printhead, easily cleaned with the Gerber alcohol wipes. i have to keep a clean desk, and clean the media hold wipers pretty regular to help avoid static and dust from clinging to the media as it's...
  18. issue with printing this gradient

check the source file that the gradient is built in CMYK values instead of spot (PMS) colors. on gradients built with spot colors the spot colors will fall off at a point and sometimes create a gray-ish midpoint, where a file built with the percentage values will mathematically blend together...
  19. Fading edges of photos in Illustrator

i agree w Peavy that it's easier and cleaner to do in photoshop. just remember when you link, you need to keep the high res photoshop file with your print files when not embedded. linking files allows your print "master file" to keep within a reasonable size, which helps speed in RIP processing.
  20. Fading edges of photos in Illustrator

see if this makes sense... take your (placed high res link) image file, draw a gradient fill box (default settings ok for now), select both objects, go to transparency palate and choose make opacity mask. you should see the gradient fill becomes a transparency faded mask. you may have to...
