We've been using Signcomp extrusion based banner frames. 24ft is their limit in one length, but my understanding is you can bridge pieces together for longer lengths.
Try unplugging and replugging the cable into the top of the spindle first. Sometimes we have to reseat ours for it to fire. Tony's recommendations are spot on if that fails.
There's feed rate calculators you can search for online. We just cross reference the chipload of the tool for the given diameter you're using in the specific material. It's pretty simply math: chipload x RPM x # of flutes to get your feed rates.
We've been running a Boss Laser 3655 and it's been a decent machine. For the cost/value you can't really beat a system like this. It requires some hands on tweaking and greater care than a name brand laser, but would make a good starter machine for anyone looking to test the waters with laser...
Signcomp has a nice frame system that will work. Most of the usual distributors will represent their products for purchase. We just put up an 8x10 wall banner system Glantz provided with the sign comp system. It's not much different in terms of applying it to a trailer.
We've been doing the same thing although I'm coming into the shop roughly 30% of what is normal. I'm just trying to keep my head above water like everyone else until this ends. At this point, and I'm sure this is a shared sentiment, if I don't lose the business and can continue paying bills...
tetrahydrofurane is a fast setting water thin PVC solvent. Not sure if Weld-on or any of the other solvent companies sell a similar blend. We buy ours from a chemical company in larger pails.
Does Cheetahwrap have it? That's Feller's home brand of wrap film. I have a few yards of satin black we were trying to use and the low tack feature they built the film around is a pain in the ass to install at least with our skillset. KPMF, Hexis and Teckwrap are pretty aggressive films so...
We scrapped the PVC bed on our Gerber 408 and glued down high density MDF to the aluminum vac plenums. We ditched the pocketing, but just run the hole program for the 1/8" vac holes through the high density MDF. With the denser MDF we still run an LDF spoilboard on top when we need to. We...
I'd also like to add that I wouldn't be discouraged by using a 'smaller' manufacturer/company like Vanguard Vs one of the big boys. We've had great success in buying both the flatbeds we've had from smaller outfits.
