  1. 3 d printing is anybody doing it and how are u making money

The quirk is even in Dremel's own branded CURA slicer. So I think its in the hardware. The most annoying one is that the bed temp doesn't transfer correctly and you have to pause the print during heat-up and reset it on the printer. Otherwise it always sets it to 30C, which is basically no heating.
  2. Affordable VOC air quality monitor?

Maybe I can use baby ones with more sensitive lungs and weaker constitutions so that they die faster and provide earlier warning.
  3. 3 d printing is anybody doing it and how are u making money

I encourage everyone to tinker the way doctors encourage everyone to exercise. But if the goal is to get monetary value from the skills/equipment, then the time horizon is over a year. If you have mechanical engineering knowledge, then at least you know what you want to make. But if you are...
  4. Finding Skilled Shop Operators and Designers... Business Growth.

I found this listing on CL (not mine). Does this seem like a reasonable wage and compensation for the job description? Keep in mind this is Irvine so its probably 30-50% more expensive to live here than the country average...
  5. Ink expiration does not match box

Unfortunately the machine rejects it. That's why I even noticed this in the first place.
  6. 3 d printing is anybody doing it and how are u making money

The problem with Stratasys is that replacement parts are SOOOOOO expensive. We started with a used 768 thinking the same thing, but then the extruder clogged. For any modern printer, this is a $25 part. For Stratasys this is a $4000 part. Even buying from aftermarket copy-cats, it was a $1000...
  7. Affordable VOC air quality monitor?

Thanks! Ya, there are so many on Amazon that I can't tell which ones I need for this in particular. I didn't want to spend $4k on one if I didn't have to.
  8. Affordable VOC air quality monitor?

But wouldn't I also be poisoned until the canary dies? I might have 10x the HP of the canary, but that still means losing 10% of my health before I realize I'm in trouble.
  9. Affordable VOC air quality monitor?

I'm in California. I'll have PETA up my ass so fast if I tried to do that.
  10. Affordable VOC air quality monitor?

Does anyone know an affordable air quality monitor sensor that can detect outgassing from vinyl banners? Our HP Latex creates very strong fumes because of the high curing temperature required, and we are planning to get some industrial air scrubbers. But I want to make sure its doing a good...
  11. 3 d printing is anybody doing it and how are u making money

We use it extensively as a manufacturing startup, so I have no idea how useful it is in a sign shop. I have 3 printers - Markforge Onyx Pro + two Dremel 3D45. The Markforge was purchased about 2 years ago and was mainly used for prototyping and tooling as the material is very expensive $190/kg...
  12. Ink expiration does not match box

Has anyone ever received a 831A ink cartridge that was dated to expire well in advance of the box? This was a new cartridge and the box was unopened, so I don't believe it was tampered with. But the box says 2020 and the cartridge says 2019 and is already expired.
  13. HP 560 frozen after cancelling job

I have Onyx 12.1 and it also has an extremely long delay between when I try to cancel a job or when it automatically cancels because I lost connection to the printer, and when it actually cancels. It will say 'canceling' for a long time before it finally stops. How much time did you give it...
  14. HP 360 Need urgent help for used 360 print test before purchase

No idea. They shouldn't be refilling printheads, only cartridges if at that. But I'd listen to 2CT media. I don't know what the upper limit is for these printers, but for reference: our 560 was purchased used for ~$10k and it came with Onyx 12.1. It has about 50k mL of ink run through it in...
  15. HP 360 Need urgent help for used 360 print test before purchase

Based on my emails with STS, they are not able to get pass the chip reader on the 560 (which is what I have). They claim their cartridges work on the 360 however (its the same cartridge) but they can't do 3L boxes for the 570 (yet). I don't have a 570, but I didn't think the 3L boxes had a chip...
  16. HP 360 Need urgent help for used 360 print test before purchase

But if nobody (to my knowledge) uses them successfully, then they aren't really available are they?
  17. HP 360 Need urgent help for used 360 print test before purchase

I don't know of anyone who has actually had luck with STS inks (or any 3rd party latex ink). So let us know if it works for you, lol.
  18. Finding Skilled Shop Operators and Designers... Business Growth.

Curious, but whats the going rate in your area for a competent shop operator?
  19. Confused about "Nozzle Out" data

According to this video, the printheads with problems are the ones with long strings of letters after them in the printer data page. However my printer data page shows long strings of text after the printheads that are practically brand new. I know new printheads can fail, but to have 3 of...
  20. Finding Skilled Shop Operators and Designers... Business Growth.

That's the problem. Most of them want to either work in a design firm (not many of those left that do strictly graphics), branch into UI/UX, or work in-house on packaging and marketing material. The closest to sign shop work I can think of is exhibit design, and word is that the expected pay is...
