You need to go into Device Manager and inside there you will see a Mimaki 1394 listed, if you expand this window you will see two options, double click either of these and go to the driver tab and you should be able to see the driver version.
You have probably already tried all of this but what version of firmware does the printer have and what version of Mimaki's fire wire driver are you using? Also what software and version of windows are you using?
In the new FC8000 series the middle roller does have three settings, High, Low and off. The two outside ones only have high and low because they should never be turned off. If your Q54 is based off of the FC8000 then your pinch rollers are correct and you aren't missing anything. If I remember...
Do you know if the Fire wire card inside the PC has a Texas Instruments Chip set on it? I have seen a lot of communication errors because the PC doesn't have a fire wire card with a TI chipset. Go into device manager to check it.

To import the PTF into Flexi go into Production Manager and click on File > Import Preset and browse to the PTF file, Production Manager will import it and make it avaliable in the list of Presets.
One thing you should check before replacing the print head is swap the Lt. Magenta and Magenta ink lines going to the print head, the problem you are having could be caused because of a bad Damper or O-Ring letting in air, if it is then the Lt Magenta head will have a problem and the Magenta...
The biggest problem in doing this is with the drivers like you mentioned. If it would work you would probably have to boot into safe mode and reinstall the correct drivers for the new hardware. I would try to avoid this setup; it would probably make for a very unstable system.
Actually this was an issue in the rip not on the printer. I updated the firmware since I was on the phone. The fact that the printer's internal Palette test printed without any issues shows this.
