yes you have to cut the foam first. I had tried to ease the whole thing off by wedging a squeegee and it pulled and stretched the adhesive underneath. One you chut the foam it's easy...ish.

you could also redo the cutline and delete the parts you don't want. provided all the size settings are the same as the original print. or as above, but set the initial blade pressure to zero until you get to the place you want. it will only lightly kiss the vinyl.
