  1. New printer band wagon

I have had my JV33 for 5 years. Still running original print head. Cant say enough good things about Mimaki. Run oem inks and you are golden.
  2. What do you do with your Paper and Vinyl waste?

Seconded... Schools love the release liners.
  3. Signvox alternative and migration of invoices.

In the last year, I drastically downsized my shop. Its just me and 2 other people now. Back when I had 2 sellers and 3-4 people in production, signvox made a lot of sense. Now I am really the only person writing invoices, and its easy to keep track of everything going on in the shop. I was...
  4. Frustrated with 4Over

zooprinting.com - good quality, fast turnaround and MUCH MUCH better customer service. I still command $60-80 per set of 1000 cards - people looking for the cheapest cards they can buy are not my customers. If you are fighting for those, vistaprint will kill you every time. Corporate...
  5. New Logo ideas!

Im no design guru, but you are falling into a trap i know well. I want to show how much I can do, and the simplest logo is the best. Yours is too busy and hard to read. I understand exactly why youve put all of the things you did on there, and honestly I would probably have done it a similar...
  6. JV33 heater is acting up between prints

Strange thing - seems like the heater forgets to shut off after it reaches the desired temperature. Yesterday it happened and the post heater got HOT... today the pre-heat got to 66 degrees before I realized the machine should be printing but was not. It has happened on user type 1 and 2. The...
  7. 911 printer emergency, dont want to ruin heads. Please msg or call immediately

If you turn your printer off, and move the head to the capping station, the caps dont automatically rise up to meet the head? On our mimaki, you can turn the machine off at the switch, and fill the cap with solution and park the head there if you lose power or something like that for an...
  8. 911 printer emergency, dont want to ruin heads. Please msg or call immediately

what kind of machine? - never mind, i see now roland.
  9. Marketing in Waco Texas.

Ok, i admit i kinda laughed when i saw it.... http://www.takepart.com/article/2013/09/08/womens-rights-violence-advertising This is quite possibly the most offensive truck decal ever created. (Photo: Screengrab/KWTX)
  10. Show me your business logo

here's ours. i used to like it... now im fading on it. I want to change it every few years for some reason.
  11. JV33 - Color drop out = air in lines? (photos)

on the channels that arent printing, if you hold the dampers open with the valves open do they drop ink at a steady rate?
  12. JV33 - Color drop out = air in lines? (photos)

Also make sure your head is level - when you loosen the screw to raise/lower the head it can get off level, and not form a good seal on the capping station. Capping station would be next guess, followed by head. **Wait, i re-read your post, How long had the printer been sitting up? Was it...
  13. JV33 - Color drop out = air in lines? (photos)

I'm thinking dampers. Swap the cyan dampers and see if that channel drops out again. Did you use OEM dampers or the cheap $5 ones from china? Take a pic of your head with the cover removed so we can see how much ink is in each damper. Move the head over to the service area and tape all the...
  14. Roland vs Mimaki

Love my jv33. Wish it was a 63" instead of a 54". Though then I would have to buy a new laminator, etc... I haven't had the experience of working on or owning a Roland, but the Mimaki is a pretty solid machine.
  15. font check?

  16. font check?

Anyone know this one? I got an eps and it looked good until it was time to blow it up to put on a van, then i realize its a live trace. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you! -Pete
  17. You thought you got ripped off?

On the guys facebook page he says the Sign Doctor does his installs for him. Looks like he paid someone to make a nice website for him, and they ripped you (and Dan) off. I agree though. it doesn't exactly absolve the ultimate wraps guy of wrongdoing though... I might be able to forgive the...
  18. business licenses....

we have been doing some channel letter installs... I am trying to stop doing them... by the time you get a permit, get an electrician and jump through all the hoops you need to jump through to get the sign made, then spend half to a full day doing the install its not worth the money you have...
  19. business licenses....

It's almost the end of the year, so you know what that means... renewal of business licenses for every town we put up signs in. Every year i get mad.. it's an absolute crock that I need a license in every town i go through, since our "city" is nothing but a bunch of suburbs at every street...
  20. Ij10 Discontinued?

Just heard 3m has discontinued ij10 - has anyone else heard this? It might not be the best vinyl out there but it does have its uses. Looks like I will have to find a substitute for those el cheapo coroplast jobs.
