  5. Just Ordered A Seal EL 54!

I looked at the Seal and a royal sovereign. I ended up with the RS, but it was a close call.. the take up roll on the rs ended up being the clincher for me. After using a daige, you are going to be in heaven, congratulations. You should be able to laminate entire rolls with ease.
  6. Anything better than MR-Clipart?

We use Pro Vehicle Outlines, from digitaldesignware.com really good templates.
  7. Laminator leaving Zig-Zag pattern

The newer solo does have the two red rollers. I still contend that having two screws to turn to set pressure has got to be the worst design possible, wouldn't have been too hard to figure out how to make a solid bar with one pressure knob... I guess at least the rollers are round.
  8. Laminator leaving Zig-Zag pattern

set that laminator on fire and roll it down a hill. Buy a seal 54el, a RS 1401c, or any of the others in the 5-6K range and forget you ever saw that thing. By the time you get it figured out you have wasted that much in materials, have almost missed deadlines and stayed all night to reprint...
  9. Laminator leaving Zig-Zag pattern

Bet it's a daige since they've talked about pressure being tuned in.... congratulations, if you have left those rollers sitting pressed on each other, you've got flat spots now. Always release pressure on laminate rollers after using the machine.
  10. jv33 - hope it's the pump. Started with yellow

You were right on the money. Put in the pump yesterday morning before I left, and it didn't do anything, after filling the dampers and one cleaning cycle, all nozzles were printing perfectly after replacing the cap. I have looked all over the old cap, and see nothing wrong - it was just worn...
  11. Grimco-- no Warranty!

I wouldnt use briteline lam for anything but a straight surface. If you bought the version without the uv shield, it even states in their catalog that it's for indoor use only. I did have some briteline fail on me and they helped make good on that roll though, maybe it depends on who you talk...
  12. jv33 - hope it's the pump. Started with yellow

It was the cap :) printer is running great. I replaced 4 dampers, and the cap. It took one cleaning and it was printing 100%. Yay. Was too tired after driving 8 hours to remember to take pictures (turns out Mimaki's headquarters are on the other side of Atlanta so it was a haul). I cant...
  13. jv33 - hope it's the pump. Started with yellow

Ok, so I am going to Mimaki and picking up a cap this morning. Turns out they are about 2 hours from me. I'd rather be safe than sorry, and this job has to go out tomorrow. I did a little test, opened the valve behind the ink cartridge and opened the damper to see if ink flowed through the...
  14. jv33 - hope it's the pump. Started with yellow

Wow, I wish I had ordered the capping station at the same time :( Fingers crossed that the pump works, we have an install tomorrow and Thursday, and a little less than half printed before it went out. Thank you for all of the information, you guys rock.
  15. jv33 - hope it's the pump. Started with yellow

I figured I would make a new thread, rather than hijack another one. Yesterday, Magenta dropped a little on us, I did a head soak, and it came back. Today, yellow just disappeared mid print. It didn't slowly fade out, it just shut off mid print. So I tried the head soak again. Nothing...
  16. Mimaki JV33-160 - missinG yellow

This just happened to me, yellow too. Dampers are FULL, yesterday I had magenta drop out. I did a head soak, and magenta came back.. Now I am in the middle of a big banner job, and no yellow. One second it was print yellow, the next. Poof, its gone. You can see its like a switch went off on...

  18. K2 Vinyl?

I have used K2 banner. It's not bad, not as good as their Key, i find my print head picks up some fuzz off of the edges, which in long runs can result in droplets. For short runs, its better than other budget banner I have used.
  19. What is your company workflow is like ?

The designer is worth keeping if you charge for their services. If you are giving it away, he is costing you money designing three banners in a day. Vehicle wraps, bigger stuff is another story. Get something like signvox, it will tell you where your bottleneck is when you look on the job...
