  1. EFF YOU RASTERLINK! Stops working after 3 years says not registered

Ok uninstalled, and reinstalled now after install and reboot, I click on rasterlink, and it says mimaki webservice (launcher) has stopped working. Right off the bat, which makes me think it's the same problem with the old install. You'd think it would have been reloaded with a fresh install...
  2. EFF YOU RASTERLINK! Stops working after 3 years says not registered

Yeah, if it were a weekday that would help. Amazing how things seem to mess up at the worst times. LOL
  3. EFF YOU RASTERLINK! Stops working after 3 years says not registered

Been having serious issues with printer. Get those worked out and get ready to print all day today to try and get caught up, and freaking rasterlink opens, and files have not registered all over them when I print. So I go deregister the program, and re-register it. Says the same thing. I go...
  4. Panel Saw Kit (that works!)

that's very cool, wish I had the room for one.
  5. How do you use your laminator?

Have had both before. I have one with a roll to roll, and love it. You can choose not to use it when you dont need it, but for long runs, its nice to hit the button and let it go. makes it a simple one man job.
  6. wrap your car in velvet?

cost is $4 per square, I dont think thats cheapening the market one bit. Their site says you can pressure wash it, and its good for 3 years. I think its kind of cool actually, in the right applications. I can see how wrapping a nasty dashboard, or speaker enclosure might be nice.
  7. Back from the dead...

Had that very issue with no hard drive recognized, you could reboot 100 times, and if you were lucky it would grab it once. Ended up buying a NAS raid drive as a result, it's nice to know it has a redundant drive but man, that thing is slow. I have thought about using a service like carbonite...
  8. CMYK to LAB

Exactly, in the swatches panel... so if i save a workspace, does it automatically use that workspace every time I create a new document?
  9. Wrapping with calendered

You can use IJ40 for short term vehicle graphics on flat surfaces. It's rated as a 7 year film. Grimco also sells automark (I've never tried it) and its supposed to be decent. I'd never use calendared on anything you wanted to look good for a long period of time, its going to shrink, and...
  10. CMYK to LAB

I guess I am going to take that as a no. :toasting: I'm surprised nobody else has that problem. I know the way illustrator displays colors has been discussed before, but for use in the print industry it makes sense that spot colors would be the same in illustrator and photoshop. When you...
  11. CMYK to LAB

Is there a way to change the default settings in illustrator to display spot colors as LAB instead of CMYK? Having to change it every time I make a new document is a PITA - because if I forget just one time, my colors are off.
  12. Different monitor setups, what do you have?

Im running one 28" for main display, and a 21" next to it ... It works great for me.
  13. 40" laminator recomendations???

I have a royal sovereign 54" cold lam, works great. Wouldnt go back to the daige if you paid me. The seal 54el is also a good laminator, buy a 54" .. you will outgrow a 40 - and REGRET you didnt buy a bigger one in a year or two when you have to shell out another 6 grand.
  14. Comic Saaaaaaaaaaaaanssss!

Stealing that for my facebook wall.
  15. 3M Envision 480cv3

I got a sample of this stuff and the laminate and went ahead and printed with ss21 inks on my Mimaki. I put a spot graphic on my van to see how it holds up. it's been on over a month, and so far so good. I will probably never buy a roll though, since they say its not for solvent, just had to...
  16. Mesh and wind load. Stage covering, opinions?

in case anyone is following this. I called Verseidag about their seemee mesh premium (90/10) mesh, it reduces the wind load by 17%. Haven't yet found an answer in layman's terms for 70/30 mesh. Honestly, I think this is pretty important to know. Companies go out and slap up a banner or sign...
  17. Mesh and wind load. Stage covering, opinions?

thanks for the replies. Looks like 15 pounds per square foot for banner in 75mph wind gusts. That's 1500 pounds for a 10x10' banner, and we are talking about a much bigger banner here. I am having a hard time finding any good information about mesh reducing the wind load, I have one from...
  18. I just won a bid and need advice! HELP :)

I'd be at about $2500 for the job, delivered. If you are replacing panels, I would make them give me the old ones to measure from before I cut down the sheets of lexan, otherwise you are going to need to get a lift and go out and measure them yourself (figure in another 400-500 for the lift if...
  19. Mesh and wind load. Stage covering, opinions?

Have a stage to wrap... its a header, two side panels, and backdrop and a skirt. I am worried about windload, and want to use mesh of course... but we have some options. 60-40 all the way to 90-10. Any way to calculate windloads? Which would you use? I am concerned it's just going to be a...
  20. Vacation Time - Gulf Shores Alabama Here I Come

Go get drunk at the florabama. I have some stories I could tell about that place... if I could just remember them.
