Vinyl Express Panther (GRC-61 for the 24" model) made by GCC. Very good cutters and they still make parts for them if needed. We have been cutting with ours for the last 3 years, 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, 51 weeks a year and we bought it used.
I hear of ways around it but I do try to keep everything clean or as clean as I can keep it. I think the 3 replacement pads from Fellers of SW are around $15 I buy 2 sets at a time just to have extras on hand. We had a issue with the funnel that the wasted ink traveled down to the waste tray...
We have had our Mutoh 1204 for about a year now and love it's flexibility. Overall a great (in my opinion) printer matched with the Q54 cutter and Flexi 10 software/RIP.
The waste tray idea was not very well thought out though. A tube with a bottle would have been a better idea. Those pads will...
Hire a interior designer/consultant. We had an idea on what we were looking for but felt much better executing it when it comes from a professional. We went with a Bright Orange, Bright Green, Vibrant Blue and a Magenta we are covering 7 different walls and looking for a bright, airy modern...
geez, I'm on Illy 10 (don't laugh) and just today bought CS2 and bought Corel X4 3 weeks ago. Guess I'm just not up to speed or to cheap to buy the latest and greatest thing.
We have this happen only using a certain Oracal profile. It only happens when we print using no color correction with that profile. Don't know a fix for it other then changing the rendering.... really weird indeed.
John, just go for it.

Bite the bullet and go with your gut...
Try the Avery 2601/2611. We have been using it for a year with (knock on wood) zero failures. Harbor and Fellers sell it in the 54" wide but we get ours from SW because we buy it 54" wide and slit the roll to size. The Oracal wall film is crap.....
Just a guess as I am not a expert, but from my experience I would try a different profile. It could be your rip or maybe a roll of contaminated material.
