  1. Moving a VP540

I'm looking to move to a new location in the spring, I have the option of having a professional break down and move my VP540 or move it myself. 1. Am I a fool to even thing about hauling it myself? 2. is there a manual that lists what you need to do before it can be moved? Many thanks.
  2. What to do?

In addition to all the red blooded advice, by taking the trailer back he has accepted the work you did. You can get all hot and rip your vinyl off the trailer and not make another penny or you can send the legitimate debt to collection and rip the hell out of his credit rating (and also get some...
  3. magnet signs ate my customers truck

I get this about once a year, had one a few months ago. The customer wanted me to pay for repainting the car doors, but they admitted the things were left on for weeks and not removed for washing. In that case all I could offer was sympathy (boy that didn't go down well). I ensure all our...
  4. How long do most shops

24 hours if we can. depends on the application. If its short life I'm less concerned about waiting. If its vehicle I'll try to leave it as long as possible.
  5. Discounts for Charities or Non-Profits??

We have our charities that we donate to and other charities that we do work for. The ones we do work for will at best get a break on pricing or free design, but we still make money on the jobs. The charities we donate to we give cash or on occasion a free banner or big cheque. There are...

  7. Does this guy seem alittle odd?

Its a question of trust. In the customers place I would not slap down 75% deposit to someone I just met in a coffee shop who has no place of business (meeting at the shop would reassure me that the deal had some legitimacy). At the same time what kind of ass hands over a cheque while...
  8. Caveat Emptor: (Thinking of buy Wasatch Softrip?)

So in the last couple of months I have a few Adobe CS5 files sent to me, ask the customer to resend as CS4 no problem. I finally decide to bite the bullet and upgrade... Adobe did it again! there is a lot of candy floss, new icons and starter screen, but where is the upgrade? What useful new...
  11. What is the longest...

As with everyone else, slow slow speed with low heat and If you can drop in a fresh blade. I do the occasional 12-14ft print/lam/cut vehicle graphic. One thing to note; Material. I changed to a different adhesive/lam that the rollers had a more difficult time gripping, had a lot of slipping.
  12. Another Assult charge..:(

Although you are in a heap of crap, didn't it feel good to release some of that built up tension? He came to your house with the intention of intimidating you or beating you up on your own doorstep. He is lucky you are in Iowa and not Texas. Sounds like his business needs those spaces to...
  13. Print Media Drying Racks?

I have a couple of Ikea clothes racks with 6 inch cardboard tubes on the top. Can drape any banner up to 12ft long. Adhesive, go for the crates or buckets as above. Not so keen on the use of fans though. I have found fans just blow dust around. There are some pretty good solutions on here...
  14. You know what I HATE....

No! not the quiznos hot cheese agony! the sandwich being bread only feels warm and toasty, but bite into it and the hot molten cheese sticks to the inside of your mouth. You are left with a burned mouth and that hanging bit of skin. That ...(I hate)
  15. VS 640 Magenta/Black/Cyan lines in print

for sure you won't get much without a picture. We are very visual on Signs 101, with a short attention span and many cannot even read.
  16. Roland - VS Print & Cut (CMYK + White + Metallic)

I would be likely running the 640 along side the existing vp540...do the prints look different? I can see many cases when I would split a production run.
