  1. Can you do mugs with a print/cut machine?

yes you can. In the same way you can print t-shirt decals for the heat press. You can print the decals to go on mugs and plates. You see the mug heat presses on Ebay. I haven't done it myself, but I have seen it done with what looked to be a standard eco sol VP 300.
  2. Roland - VS Print & Cut (CMYK + White + Metallic)

It would make more sense to sub out this single job, even if it is huge rather than hobble the printer with white and silver. I'm sure you will be able to sell to other customers, but this white and silver is by necessity a premium cost item. Are you in a place that you can sell at a premium...
  3. I hate some people.....

I love customers like this, although my wife hates them. As long as you don't get sucked into the vortex of emotion and stick to your guns over price and deadline it's just money. This is how she lives her life; creating an emotional panic zone around herself. its just a way to get the world...
  4. Apparently my personal information has a price tag of $12! ~ now what?

okay so you are on the do not call list. I'm in Canada. I can call you trying to sell crap till you are in tears. I'm on the Canadian version of the list. I get a ton of call selling me stuff...All the telemarketers have indian accents. What it does is ensure that AMERICAN business can't...

Stick em in an envelope and mail them to another state with no return address. You have then saved Forida aquifers.
  8. Are we green yet?

It is shaming to realise how false 99.9% of "green" is. How degraded the concept of caring for the environment has become and how it is just another way to screw more dollars out of sales to a gullable and yet willfully blind public or a grubbing way to garner more votes to stay in power. We...
  9. Outfitting my shop... cutter and printer questions.

Wow did this thread get lost. To get back to the original premise... Are you buying a sign business from a craigslist ad? This "distant" mentor will not be able to give you enough training to matter if you are just visiting. The fact that they don't like email or telephones screams...
  10. Advice for printing on clear vinyl

It really depends on your application. I print solid colour window decals on clear, it needs 3 hits, but it looks fine especially laminated and cut. All you are doing with clear reverse is exchanging the clear laminate for opaque white laminate (vinyl). As stated above, you have to...

  12. Illustrator equivilent of Helvetica

Switzerland was decades ago. it was renamed Helvetica in the 60's. It was also made into one of the first computer fonts...I think by bitstream (Swiss 721) in the early 80's then was used as the base for Ariel font in 82. It could be Swiss 721 you are thinking of...but since it's bitstream...

  19. The open discussion of pricing

Isn't any pricing formula now redundant? With threads running about there being far too many sign shops in a given area the question moves to what a customer is prepared to pay. With many purchases now, I will consult the google beast to find out what the price should be. In fact I just...
  20. Static electricity

humidity? Low humidity may be an issue. You should be able to easily ground it to the metal bed of the laminator.
