  1. Admit it, you know you've used it!!!!

I'm going to say it, I don't have a problem with comic sans ... It's a horrible font, but no worse than any of these ... http://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=603&l[]=10&l[]=1 or Bleeding Cowboy ... jeez I'm tired of that typeface, that and mesquite. That being said ... I will admit, I have used...
  2. designing your own font for Windows

I was just going to suggest that ... pasting just copies the data (at this point is just random connected points and the curve math) into font forge so there is no formatting to contend with.
  3. Crazy Cat Lady

I'm not saying that this should be the way to go or anything ... it's just an option. http://zoologicalwildlifefoundation.com/programs-services/animal-rental/tiger-rentals/ Otherwise ... traps. just get rid of them, only way to stop the problem.

  5. Fine arts vs. Graphic arts majors

Oddly enough ... my college experience you would be surprised at the answer. ... GD majors were the biggest potheads I could imagine ... sculpture and ceramics majors like myself never to rarely smoked anything (though ... drinking heavily was there, even during class ... oh i miss that) ...
  6. Fine arts vs. Graphic arts majors

Man, what pat and artbot and a few others described is just about spot on. Every time I hired a graphic designer with a G.D. degree ... waste of time and money ... you almost have to babysit them since it's next to impossible to get a basic idea out of them you haven't fully proofed and/or...
  7. buy it before its gone?

I dislike the creative cloud ... in the past month it's forgotten the information for the account about 5 times so I get about 10 minutes of down time in one of the shops I do graphics inhouse at, every time it does this. It's enough to make you punch the monitor across the room. I will stick...
  8. Company truck wrap design - Tear it apart!

That is much better, and less hurtful to the eyes. I would drive a vehicle with that on it and not feel ashamed.
  9. Company truck wrap design - Tear it apart!

I looked over all the designs, so far the most successful ones are the ones with the 'signs' element at an angle ... though i tend to dislike putting a huge element that completely overshadows the company name. hell, the times I've been able to use it successfully was when it was a seperation...
  10. Company truck wrap design - Tear it apart!

clipart is cheap ... actual art skills aren't. It's like a buddy of mine once said ... "Women cost time, money and/or energy. ... and art is a cruel *****, which is why I stick to prostitutes ... it costs less."
  11. black reflective

yes, any black vinyl then since black reflecting back would be the absence of light reflecting. I have seen white, grey (white reflective with a black print on it) and gold reflected but not black. to have black reflected and be visible as a bright entity ... sort of defies the way light works...
  12. Sign company put road sign in front of my shop !

I don't know if I would go so far as to 'stop street spam' because it's not like I don't sell a stack of coroplast once every 2 or 3 weeks to someone. Now ... I myself wouldn't put signs out front of a competitors shop ... but in front of Sams Club in the dirt lot where everyone comes out ...
  13. designing your own font for Windows

font forge is great for the price ... if you're just looking to do a couple custom fonts for your own system go with font forge
  14. central line fonts

Hey guys, I have a job coming up that is going to require a central line font for what I need to do. Basically it's going to be a heavily illustrated design but the text will need to be a single vector line instead of a vector shape. I have attached what I mean ... sort of like if I was doing...
  15. Dr. has left the house and it's not good

Well, it is after all just the usb right? that is unsoldering the (8?) pins, putting a new usb port on and re-soldering. I would say 1/100th the cost.
  16. Sign company put road sign in front of my shop !

during all the political pandering season my buddy in orlando would pay people 10 cents a stake if they weren't bent. People would go out and get 10 or 15 bucks worth in about 20 minutes there are just that many on the streets of orlando and the city goes around and pulls them every other...
  17. Dr. has left the house and it's not good

Well it's going to be cheaper than a whole new machine so keep that in mind. the main board is probably what ... $2k. Not bad considering its a $10k printer right?
  18. GX-24 - Strange issues with cutting

it's the motor wearing out. it starts as a small gap or overcut on the axis the motor rotates ... but it's the motor wearing out. want to see some fun stuff ... throw a pen in your roland and draw the attached file (image on the left) ... the right side is an overexagerated version of what you...
  19. Making business cards at your shop?

The few ways I see them done is with either a dye sublimation printer (for materials like plastic rag, etc) screen printed (for a raised uv lettering) offset printed (for huge runs and spot effects like gloss lam designs on matt cards) cards are cut with a guillotine press ... generally a...
  20. Making business cards at your shop?

I wholesale them ... half the time I include 1000 for them after people buy a logo, then pay for design time for both the business cards and post cards and possibly a website. I mean hell ... they just spent somewhere close to 600 bucks ... it's an incentive at that point.
