  2. The most overused font in 2013 is.....

In this area, green energy, bleeding cowboy, boston truck style and lastly ... mesquite ... or any of the 20 different but same variants of mesquite ... it's on the fricken waffle house menus for the love of all that is unholy! .. But every damn trucker or cowboy or whatever that wears boots and...
  3. who knows where I can get this done??

you need to contact an offset printing company that can die cut the product. Simple project, I don't have a contact though. There is a magazine I used to get called packagePrinting as well as brand packaging magazine ... basically big ads for people who supply those services.
  4. Cutting - there's got to be a better way!

That is a sign warehouse machine. contact them and ask them how to do it, they should be able to answer your questions on how to do that.
  5. how did 18" z 24" become a standard sign size?

18x24 became the standard thanks to framing and offset print reproductions. ... the standard canvas and art panel is an 18x24 thanks to that 1.5/2 ratio ... framing became that standard size, thus paper and layout materials became that and most people want to see 18x24 from us and thus is now...

It's extremely easy to vector. Here is a tutorial ... learning how to make that look amazing is just an investment of your time and the commitment to increase your skill. http://www.gomediazine.com/tutorials/from-sketch-to-vector-illustration/
  8. Creating beveled effect on letters (the vector way...)

With what you have posted, I would probably just pen tool it out. takes like next to no time especially in corel draw. The entire thing could be done in about 20 minutes with about 10 minutes of fine tweaking. My mini tutorial was really for when you have odd stuff and only have about 3...

  10. Customer HAS TO stop in....

I get them all the time ... sadly, all they are looking for is someone who is friendly and can give them the time of day to do what they want. Customer service, really. I just suck it up, factor in that time when I quote and the world is good.
  11. What files/artwork to give clients?

This. GIFs are for glitter graphics and bleeding bars. PNGs actually have transparencies that work for web or anything else and are supported by modern browsers. I.E. 6 and under can suck it.

  14. Making a shop Handbook?

Procedure and Policy should be 2 separate hand books. I really can't add to what others have said to policy, so yeah +1 to above. Procedure ... be as anal retentive as you want in the steps. The few I've written up ended up about twice as long as I thought after I added in all the small...
  15. Double Sided Post & Panel Sign

"going to last" is hard to offer for exterior signs without knowing details. What is the weather like? ... year round? is it going to be in the open, or shaded from weathering elements? fauna and flora near by? how about trees? how long is "going to last" ... 3 years? 5 years? 10 years? that...
  16. potential new shop advice

Alright, so I have this amazing deal falling into my lap. Right now I do my graphics out of my shop at home with all the distractions that go with it. (travel to and from customers, house hold distractions, wife, etc) and it's working well now because overhead is low while I'm still...
  17. The Square credit card payment....who has it?

I signed up for both intuit and square and from my transactions ... I like intuit more. Their fraud protection is better than squares and the money processes easier. Plus the card swiper is a better quality. Rates are practically the same though. Had 3 banks offer CC payments ... but after...
  18. Installing new graphics on top of old ones: Opinions?

Isn't the life of most wrap material rated for 10 years? it could possibly stand up to it if only another 3 or 4. Just set expectations that because of the condition it might only last 1 or 2 and to cross finvers for 3 to 4 years and quote for what you think removal, fixing, prepping and...
  19. Birthday present for a 14 yo girl ?

Justin Beiber and a 10 foot section of chain attached to a collar. it will go one of two ways ... you'll have to dispose of beibers body from the chain beating he received for the pain and torment his music causes ... or you'll have to dispose of his body when you find it again 3 months ago...
