  1. Cheaper ink than standard mimaki?

There was a class action lawsuit regarding this if I'm not mistaken. Scare tactics. Our workhorse is well out of warranty, but we've been using Triangle Inx since the beginning. $100 per liter and fantastic colors. Triangle, at the time, was picking up the remainder of folk's warranties to...
  2. JV3 head help

We use Triangle Inx, and I buy the cleaning fluid by the liter for around $100.
  3. Distribute object around a circle evenly

You beat me to it. I was going to show a screen cap of Flexi's "Step and Repeat" dialog. When I was first starting with Illy, I searched high and low for such a command. Really hard to believe there is no such feature in Illustrator.
  4. Distribute object around a circle evenly

As powerful as Illustrator is, I marvel at its lack of a "step and repeat" function.

  6. Going green... Really

No, nothing wrong with my printer. Although, it may be set up differently than yours. But when my machine is on (green switch), it doesn't do sleep cleanings. It will clean itself periodically when printing, though.
  7. Going green... Really

You should turn off the green switch every night. Otherwise, the machine won't do it's sleep cleaning. I think the OP was asking about turning off the main power which is a no-no.
  8. Color aggravation....

Agreed. The proof is in the pudding.
  9. Random non printable PS files...

Flattening the file should definitely take care of this. Once flattened, the RIP doesn't know or care what proprietary effects have been used. It simply sees pixels.
  10. Going green... Really

Sure, we leave the Mimaki's main power on at all times. Periodically, it will power on and cycle some ink through the heads to prevent clogging in the lines and print heads. The pennies you may save in electric costs will be outweighed the first time you have to replace a head that has gone...
  11. Masking in Flexi Pro 8.2

Is the shape drawn with the bezier tool a closed path? It sounds like it may not be.
  12. Printing A Gray Image

Without building media-specific profiles, there are a few quick "fixes" you may try to get you by. First, try printing the image with color correction turned off. You should find this option in the Advanced tab of Flexi's PM. If it prints too dark, you can knock the color down a bit by moving...
  13. lost work while importing into flexi?

Yes, flattening will turn your file into a raster file. What version of Flexi are you using? My initial thought is to export your CS3 file as an AI v8 and then try importing it into Flexi. Let us know your progress.

What were the criteria for this competition? On what basis am I to judge them?

  16. SUMO Paint...online imaging!!!!

Very cool link. I haven't played with it much yet, but it looks promising. I have a couple of friends that are going to really appreciate this.
  17. Cut path in Adobe Photoshop CS

I think you meant to say that PS is a raster program, which it is. But you can create and export vector paths in Photoshop using the steps Mainframe outlined. Also, newer versions of PS have some rather sophisticated vector capabilities in the way of Smart Objects, etc.
  18. Saving Print & Contour files in Flexi

Gotcha. I don't know if that will work or not. I don't archive RIPed jobs in PM. It doesn't seem like it would really save that much time to do it that way rather than opening the fs file, unless you were doing multiple copies of something that took a long time to RIP. But even in that...
  19. Saving Print & Contour files in Flexi

I'm not sure I understand you. Can't you just open the .FS file and print/cut from that? We save all job files with a reference number for future use. If I need to reproduce a print/cut job, I open the existing file, step and repeat the appropriate number of said design and RIP the file. Are...
  20. when printer low on ink will not tell you the size?

I understand you. You're using the Flexi RIP right? Our version of the Flexi RIP doesn't support the "poll size" feature that the plotter interface has. So, I also enter the media width manually. We run bulk inks, so I haven't encountered the "low ink" screen you're talking about. But I...
