  1. affordable printer plotter

    Good advise right here.
  2. Epson Stylus Pro 4800

I wouldn't run vinyl through that machine but they're great for photo prints and accurate proofing.
  3. Banners

Yeah if you're a tiny shop outsourcing should be your bread and butter. 80 banners is a great order I'm sure there was profit room on it after outsourcing costs.
  4. Which RIP Software?

I'll sell you two for $34,500 and still make a profit over retail. :ROFLMAO: HP has it's own line of banner material and Ultraflexx banner material also prints great on it, your dealer is either ignorant or an ass.
  5. Anyone who is interested

If you'd rather pay than tinker you should pay OR you could sock away a "repair fund" and ditch the warranty. If you love the GS6000 you should keep using it, the gamut is much better than the L25500 and the drop size is like 3x smaller. However, the L25500 is so cheap that if you have any...
  6. Professional Development...What do you do?

No problem...many of the social tools built for individuals are just as easily leveraged for the purposes of personal branding.
  7. should I come back after lunch?

Check your state labor laws, continue working as normal. You're well protected by law on this front it just depends on the state for specifics. Bring the appropriate arm of the law into the mix if the owner doesn't correct the situation ASAP.
  8. Alien skin eye candy 6

Awful, has always been awful. The effects aren't anything you couldn't recreate and better from scratch without too much effort. Alien Skin is stuck in the late 90s and even then their stuff looked hackneyed.
  9. Anyone who is interested

New model on it's way, no secret. HP always sells printers super cheap they're in the ink game, not the printer game. Unlike Mimaki, etc. they have no problem taking a loss on the hardware in order to lock in the ink and media sales (and HP media is quite good...). Basically the large format...
  10. Colorburst shutting down. File too big. Now what?

Wow if my print vendor did this to me I'd bore them a new hole in their head. No reason your RIP couldn't handle 150dpi at that size, should be trivial. The reading straight from CD could have been the problem for sure. You've already figured that out...the other thing you could have tried was...
  11. Banners

This, cut vinyl banners in 2011 is ridiculous.
  12. Help, did I just buy some malware?

Meh @ Vipre, MSSE tests extremely well and is free. OP, Never buy shit from something telling you you have an issue and to fix it you need to buy something. Classic scam.
  13. Who's watching?

Upgraded camera is the only real reason to upgrade off a 4 to this 4gs. If you use your iPhone as a pocket camera replacement, otherwise...meh. Android guy myself and I shoot with a DSLR most of the time...not interested. We have an iPhone in the house as well and while the UI is super snappy...
  14. Finding a printer

Have you ever operated a printer? Save your money, 4K is nothing. You'll spend that on materials in two weeks. You can get a good printer for $16k including rip...but then add on computers, tables, cutters, laminator, and you're in for 50k and you still need cash to start vendor relationships...
  15. Material for banner stands

X-type of stand is probably the only case where I'd use ultraflex instead of a no-curl.
  16. firefox 6

IE9 isn't, it was completely rewritten and requires Windows 7 as it's hardware accelerated (via GPU). Pretty good on standards now too. Pre-IE9 is still awful and always will be.
  17. What's the best way

Lynda, Adobe.tv, classes at a university. Illustrator is probably the program university design courses teach the best--to make a generalized statement. Using it every day is the biggest one though. Just Use It™
  18. firefox 6

My usage pattern: Everyday browsing; Chrome WebDev/SEO/etc. work; Firefox (better toolsets) IE9; Never, but no longer call people idiots for using it
  19. premade/template websites....

Meta Description is important as a descriptor for the humans reading the cut text in the SERPs but it's 100% not included in Google PageRank or the Bing algo. Meta Keywords is 100% useless.
  20. Tailgate Wrap layout

I'd use Photoshop + Illustrator for generating art and combined / placed using InDesign for layout. It's a suite, not a bunch of individual programs.
