  1. Solvent printable card stock / poster board

Nothing that thick. Ordering a sample of Optisolve latex-infused 10mil photo paper to see what that's like. Plenty of papers exist for aqueous, just not solvent :/. Client's run is big but not big enough to make outsourcing to offset or aqueous shop make sense. Maybe I can talk my boss into...
  2. Solvent printable card stock / poster board

I was just coming on the forums to ask this very question. Need a source for a glossy, solvent printable thin cardstock for P.O.P. stuff. Must be bendable without creasing (to a point). If not cardstock, thick mil/(g/sm) solvent photo paper.
  3. Printers in the future?

There's a pretty big difference between a material/ink which actually fluoresces and one that's just "bright". Even with 12 color ink sets and super wide gamut profiles. I know what you mean though.
  4. EFI Rastek T1000

    Cheers, thanks for the dialog.
  5. jv3 160sp head wanted

Lately with the way the market is you can pick up a lightly used smaller JV3 for like $1.5K and get 3-4 heads out of it. :rock-n-roll:
  6. business card re-design

Hire a designer. There really isn't much of merit here, sorry. Looks like something someone with no experience did with a pirated version of photoshop and alien skinz in 1997. Not being "internet mean", just truthful.
  7. Printers in the future?

Print white and then color on top of the white. The problem with adding a fluorescent ink would be it's just one color -- adding white or metallic to a printer adds way more capability than just one spot color for inkjets (as you can tint the metallic and white is useful for the obvious...
  8. Printable Translucent Vinyl

Another vote for Oracal 3850 + 290 lam. Sometimes 3M, both work pretty well on our Mimaki JV3.
  9. Retractable stands and media

Use the search function there's at least two recent threads on this topic. Feller's "Popup" is the majority choice for media.
  10. EFI Rastek T1000

Printers that move the piece to be printed instead of printers that move the head over the piece are subject to minute differences in final size due to how well the machine is calibrated (tiny gaps or overlaps between the head passes add up over long pieces). Hoping the optical active adjustment...
  11. rc wrap

Try the cast high tack oracal maybe?
  12. Looking to take a fresh new approach at business

Well that's just double talk. There are real advantages to being small, work them (flexibility, responsiveness, etc.).
  13. EFI Rastek T1000

We were ready to pounce (sorry for the pun, it's early) on the Gerber CAT UV but we're a bit unsettled and just doing the research. One of our sales guys talked to us about the FB500 but we're not sure about belt drive--not a huge fan of how pass distance can impact final size (or does the...
  14. creative suite subscription is here

Don't see it happening anytime soon their main money is institutional license buys.
  15. Jv3 160sp spitting magenta in front of next pass

You could try doing the fine adjustments and maybe even the X adjustments in maintenance mode to address your issues by the way.
  16. Jv3 160sp spitting magenta in front of next pass

Next time you take a lunch break do a 30 min. custody wash. Spitting usually just means there's a bit of buildup, a normal clean should take care of it but a custody wash will loosen up any nozzles that are starting to clog (which can cause build up which causes spitting...).
  17. EFI Rastek T1000

Anyone have experience with this flatbed? Looking for basic feedback.
  18. creative suite subscription is here

Adobe doesn't really do this the different suites all pretty much make sense. Most sign shops can just get Design Standard and be good to go. The subscription makes sense for a freelancer as a way of spreading out the pain, plus if you go on vacation and aren't earning that month, turn off the...
  19. is decolit the be all in banner product for retractables?

http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60820 PopUp from Feller's is about the consensus with some love for Magic Pos Pro 200. I prefer PopUp, couldn't get a good profile with Pos Pro on our Mimaki / couldn't get the media to stay flat.
  20. Great Guy

Bars are incredibly hard to run profitably. If you're lucky you'll have two or three years of good cash surrounded by really terrible years and lots of headaches with customers and employees. Harsh business, one of the highest business failure rates. A few very talented people make extremely...
