  1. Where to Begin? Color issues....

Profile your media, make sure your files are profiled, make sure you're using the matching input profiles in onyx and should be fine. Note that a lot of people use blues like 100/100/0/0 and expect blue (because on screen it looks blue due to RGB conversion for monitor display) but you'll get a...
  2. Mimaki CG160FX trouble

You'll have to run GQMgr from the computer the CGFX is connected to, so you might need two dongles if that isn't your art production machine. Works fine, we do it all the time but it's not my wheelhouse so I can't help much other than to say I know it's possible and you don't need 4.0 (though...
  3. Ai files to Corel Draw

I don't think I'd trust a print vendor that didn't have Adobe CS. That's just basic. It's like not having electricity. Not to mention they should be able to load up an EPS/PDF/TIF/JPG from you in their RIP without having to go through Corel in the first place. Find a new print vendor.
  4. business card re-design

Grommets need to be worked on a lot they look like they're just floating in space (use proper lighting theory and burn/dodge to create the effect) and your informational text font is no good. You're using two display faces, not a great idea. Lose the pillow emboss on the Z swoosh thing and...
  5. Pulled the trigger on a Zund

  7. Making Vehicle templates

That works decently as long as you take your photo really square. Stick a ruler in the shot and you have an instant metric to scale to.
  8. Scan codes on signs

You don't need to set up a separate page just use a google analytics campaign tracking code pointed at your front page or whatever page you want. http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55540 http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?answer=55518&hl=en
  9. Making Vehicle templates

I have no idea what powerclip means but most people draw them in Illustrator using the pen tool, probably the most important graphic skill to have (mastery of the pen tool). But yeah, buying a collection saves a lot of time. Just make sure to check the dimensions yourself on the actual vehicle...
  10. Coffee Wrap!

Going that slow (on a JV3? Wow. That'd cut our production down way into the red) I can see why you wouldn't worry. Reverse rolling like that traps the solvent gas if you leave it on the roll to dry. We should have a beer in Milwaukee some time.
  11. business card re-design

Man are you lucky someone decided to throw you a spec bone. Hire a designer! This is just your business card, what about the rest of your brand and identity? It should be consistent and uniform. You're struggling this much with the smallest part of it!
  12. Business & Marketing Plan...Do you have one?

http://www.planhq.com/ No reason a business plan needs to be static.
  13. Coffee Wrap!

And no problems outgassing? I'll have to ask my finisher if that technique would be useful at all to him.
  14. Solvent printable card stock / poster board

Might just use Popup since we stock tons of it, speaking of films. Thanks for the link Custom_Grafx, going to look into that stuff as well.
  15. EFI Rastek T1000

Yeah if it's not good on aluminum it's a dead machine for us. Glad to hear they're workhorses. Flying out to see one in a production environment soon, hopefully.
  16. Coffee Wrap!

Great job, really like the gaterfoam board pieces, haven't though of doing it that way before. We should talk some time, you're practically a neighbor. One odd question, why are you using your media take up backwards? The print should always be rolled facing outwards. Easier to tape off too...
  17. Thoughts on this logo

Brushes aren't integrated enough, looks like what it is--some clip art on top of each other. Draw your own brushes and shield. Text over the image isn't good either, and not a fan of Copperplate ever.
  18. Double sided banner

I could show you how I do this on our JV3, works every time, but I'm not sure I can explain it in text. Material wise use "Suave" from Fellers, 13oz smooth finish double-sided with a block-out core. Works great. I'll give it a shot anyway: Print the first side, left aligned. At the end, put a...
  19. business card re-design

It's not really our job to give you an entire design education in bit by bit specific criticism. Go get a degree and come back and I'll give you some specific crit but right now your designs don't show the baseline required to have a legit conversation about what's wrong with it. You should...
  20. Retractable stands and media

We get tons of curl over time with canvas in retractables, with Popup, none at all. It really is the superior choice. We've done a few thousand of them over the past couple of years. The old canvas retractables we have in the back (kept to watch the curl over time) are ~6 years old have quite a...
