  1. Our New Logo

If you can't handle people being aggressive trolls you should probably stay off the internet, at least as a source of feedback. If you find yourself taking something personally, walk away for a while, go do something else. Posting angry is like posting drunk, it's never a good idea.
  2. usb to serial driver issues switching from xp to 7

You're going to have to clarify. You're looking for a Mimaki driver for Win7? Which plotter? Why are you using USB to Serial? Have you tried XP compatibility mode?
  3. Life (and this forum) is what we make it.

People still watch the news? On a TV? You are a Grandpa! Fear is a primary sales technique, being an informed consumer and realizing you're being manipulated into buying something is important, same goes for the news.
  4. Anyone seen a true flame pattern on vinyl?

istockphoto has plenty of flames/fire and if you can't find something tiled making a tile isn't very difficult.
  5. Matte green wrap...Looks nice

Paint doesn't maintain the value of the car, and how can something be "too army"? That's probably what he was going for. It's a nice change of pace to the matte black/blacked out rims/smoked tail lights look. Not something I'd do for myself but it's pretty clean.
  6. horrible logos

I know of a guy who does original illustration work for forum avatars at $1-5 and does thousands at an insanely rapid price. He does it to keep his skills sharp, it's a great idea.
  7. Our New Logo

If you can't handle critique you really should stay away from design.
  8. New Book (I promise, this one is better)

Von Glitschka is excellent, I haven't read his book but I'm a fan of his work. High level of execution. He used to co-host a GD freelancing podcast that's now unfortunately dead but his Twitter is worth following. http://www.vonglitschka.com/ http://www.federalbureauofillustration.com/
  9. Forum Design Ethics

This issue is why I only post written critique--rights don't transfer just because you're posting it as a suggestion and I WOULD want compensation if the design was used commercially (unless the person came to me nicely to work something out but that would be case by case, just like my normal...
  10. Our New Logo

And this, my friend, is why artwork (and all intellectual property) is valued above and beyond the simple time it took to make it. Years of practice and learning (often decades) have value that must be recouped by the salable item. Congrats on learning a lesson, if you like design keep at it...
  11. Making text on a angle with a wave

Don't forget to clean up the expanded lines using the Pathfinder (Add usually) or you'll end up with a whole ton of extra plot cuts that you didn't intend.
  12. Best Computer to use for Work Station

Security Essentials consistently tests in the top of the free antivirals in detection, removal, and use of system resources. Also Firefox is old hat, chrome is insanely faster--FF 4 beta is much improved but still has a ways to go. Heck even IE9 beta is quite good, the days of IE6 are long gone...
  13. New Shop Truck Layout

Still looks really dated--the "neon" blur bar is straight out of bad 90s "design", to use the word as loosely as possible.
  14. Digital Printer for Posters?

Epson 7900 fits the bill (or even an older 7700), no need to get crazy if all you're doing is poster/photo printing and don't need non-paper mediums or outdoor use. Have fun learning the giclee industry just to print a few posters...
  15. 27" Samsung GREAT PRICE!!!!

Cheap LCDs, especially those intended for TV usage, are usually only 6-bit, have really blown out contrast, and are no where near 100% aRGB coverage (most don't even have full sRGB coverage!). Additionally 1080P isn't a ton of resolution for a screen size above 17". Cheapest LCD monitor that has...
  16. Best Computer to use for Work Station

http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/ If you have to buy OEM for some reason, there you go. Here's another tip: the only anti-virus you need is Microsoft Security Essentials, uninstall anything else. Want spyware/adaware protection/removal? Malware Bytes. Want a cache cleaner/registry cleaner...
  17. New Shop Truck Layout

Looks like someone has a copy of Photoshop and the Alien Skinz plugin from 1997. speedmedia's critique is valid.
  18. Anyone else find this odd?

Atmospheric hail often kills bird groups or between-cloud lightning, all sorts of weather happens up there we don't see that's dangerous to flocks. I mean, ALIENS
  19. Looking for DSLR

Anyone with a Canon DSLR that hasn't bought the 50mm 1.8 is an idiot.* Best deal in photography. *Exempt if you own the 1.4 or 1.2
  20. Ideas for new tools.

Definitely interested in that scoring/slitting (or "kiss cut" as some of our customers call them) tool. Have a huge demand for that.
