  1. Losing repeat orders...

Instead of following up on sales create a value-added (actual value, not just sales pitch) email newsletter and add your clients to it. It'll take time and effort but done well email newsletters are huge sales generators. You're building trust and your perception as an expert, not just selling...
  2. RIP required for Mimaki JV3 160sp

Mind doing a run-down on it in another thread? Haven't heard much about it (running Onyx x10) but I'm interested in Caldera's positives and negatives.
  3. Blowing up Digital Image

I once did a 150dpi (true res, no upscale) for a three-wall wrap of a restaurant/nightclub by contracting photographers to shoot hundreds of images, which I then carefully tiled. :thumb: A very good quality image upscaled in Genuine Fractals (Perfect Resize) should do the trick, though.
  4. PS Cs4 or Cs5... recommendations?

Any shop should be at the latest versions so you can handle files from clients. And yeah, CS5 has some nice improvements, though nothing in particular for the sign industry.
  5. New Shop Truck Layout

The public is going to think aliens. When you brand you need to consider audience perception as a primary factor in the naming process. I guess black out the whole truck in matte black and tint the windows really dark, with no markings? Should be great for business.
  6. Photoshop cs2 cut line ?

Yep, you want to Place, not Paste. You're linking to external content (ala indesign or illustrator links), whereas copy/paste literally copies and pastes raster data. One note--if you do create paths in Photoshop for importation into Illustrator for cut paths, you'll likely end up with super...
  7. Can not find software RIP for Mimaki JV3 Help

Make sure to check the license to see if it's legally transferable...
  8. Where can I buy an alignment scope?

    Great, thanks again.
  9. Epson GS6000 & Mimaki JV33 comparison

:thumb: Same reason I like the machine, if only I can get my boss to bite... Quality is more important than ever, it'd be nice if the machine was more "tank like", which is the main selling point of Mimaki's, but some jobs you just really need that extended gamut and fidelity.
  10. Epson gs6000 and skeered

98% of the point of running the GS6000 is the Epson ink, stay with it.
  11. My Jv3-160 is banding! Help!

Interesting, I wouldn't have guessed encoder strip for that particular issue. Still think the OP should carefully check the black head if the media comp strips aren't printing well.
  12. the new steeler chant

Sorry no one cares about the AFC.
  13. JV3 De-commission

Run a head wash but don't replace the ink at that step (so the lines will all be clear, heads will be clean). Shut it down. Remove the heads, fill with head replacement fluid for long-term storage (or they will dry up). It helps if you have some of the black plastic cases they ship new heads in...
  14. My Jv3-160 is banding! Help!

Weird that a test draw would "look fine" but the media comp bars would not be solid. They should look normal if your black head doesn't have any clogged nozzles. How are you profiling? When was the last time you checked the ink limits on the profile you're using with that media and/or relinearized?

  16. Epson GS6000 & Mimaki JV33 comparison

I'm a huge fan of Epson but I share your concerns for high-volume production--if you keep the forum posted on which parts break down and how easy it was to fix that'd be spectacular. I don't think anyone doubts the print quality (or shouldn't...it's Epson). As for x10 I had a ton of issues, and...
  17. memjet wide format - extreme speed

Is that an AGFA M-Press Tiger as the file title would indicate?
  18. Epson GS6000 & Mimaki JV33 comparison

Nice write up. :toasting: Interested in hearing your thoughts over time on this.
  19. No Print days

Physical cleaning every morning, print 9+ hours a day, if you aren't selling that much sell more! :toasting:
  20. GS6000 take-up

I'm hoping Epson's next take on solvent improves the take up, otherwise the GS6000 is a hell of a machine.
