  1. Van Install ONLY your cost

You might want to see a doctor about that.
  2. ONYX PosterShop - server running slow?

Which version are you on, which OS, 32bit or 64bit, and has the Onyx version ever been upgraded without a clean reinstall (say from 7 to X10)?
  3. Van Install ONLY your cost

Here's another moral: elipsis are three dots and aren't replacements for sentence breaks. Perhaps time to consider decaf! Anyway sounds like a nightmare job at those margins but it's too bad you couldn't come to an agreement. Maybe they'll learn the lesson that you use specialists when...
  4. Info on my business insurance.

Who wants to work in the rain anyway?
  5. my first wrap chevy suburban with arlon

Don't post pics if you don't want critique...that said if the customer is happy, great. Who says an "engineering firm" has to look stuffy? The main problem is you can't read the firm name at distance very clearly. If that's the customer's logo you're stuck with the type but there are things that...
  6. Vehicle outline needed

  7. Sewing a banner Hem

We've tape hems for 10, 13, and 16oz and do a ton of banners with few returns. Almost always grommeted. For high wind areas or tensioned banners (light poles, etc.) we take them to a local shop that makes sails for sailboats and have them sewn. If we need even more strength we have...
  8. True Block Shadow in Illustrator

Only takes a minute to draw in the little triangles (and then join in pathfinder) to create what you're calling a pulled angle...don't be afraid of getting dirty filters and effects only go so far. With the smart point snapping in CS4 and above it's super easy to make those little fills.
  9. Buying/using JPG files for printing

Why would you use illustrator with genuine fractals (which by the way is being renamed)? That's...bizarre. Don't bring raster art into a vector program (that has crappy color management) only to upscale it with another raster plugin, that's just weird. I always buy the highest res available...
  10. Chainsaw Carved Logo

Fantastic, love to see a shop taking their branding seriously while still playing with it.
  11. Getting paid for your work

All your logos should start as scribbles, think back to art school (didn't go to art school? we also did this in high school art) you do 20++ generations of one idea before you find a couple worth pursuing and refining. That's not to say you can't "scribble" on the computer with a tablet/cintiq...
  12. flat monitor advice

Well if you had to buy a TFT panel Samsung is a good choice. They manufacture panels for most OEMs including Dell. Seconding the i1 or a Spyder, I've used and like both.
  13. Aluminum Business Cards ??

http://www.sublico.com/ <--found Google searching because you sparked my interest as well, they say they can send samples after the art is finalized so it might be worth the effort if the client is willing to pay the bill.
  14. Looking for some help with flash.. Website work

How are you going to do quality control on the submitted raster art? What if someone uploads a file that ends up 15dpi at size? They're expecting what they see on screen and you can't deliver something that will look good due to the art.
  15. mimaki jv3 160sp - wire/cable help

Replace the connector--you can buy those connector types at any electronic supply store and just strip and crimp the wires into them. Of course now that RadioShack is "The Shack" and entirely useless unless you're in a metro area you might have a hard time finding a decent supply store.
  16. Gallery Wrap Canvas Print

Average Joe? Going to be all over it. A real (non-hobby) artist? Won't be happy, but those types tend to go to speciality art print shops, not sign shops.
  17. flat monitor advice

Not a great habit to get into, LCDs have one native resolution and any other resolution is scaled. What he's probably referring to is the screen ratio, his TV's ratio setting is probably set incorrectly (most new tvs should have an auto-detect, use that...). If it's set to anamorphic and he's...
  18. i5-760 OR AMD 955 X4

I prefer the i7 for this industry--Adobe products take advantage of threading quite well.
  19. Substrate on a Mimaki JF 1631 Flatbed?

How do you like the Mimaki in general? Do you run white ink, and if so have you had any clog problems? How about substrate adhesion?
  20. Chevy Express Wrap tips?

3951GRA and 290G, no primer (isn't designed for it)--don't cheap out. Relief cuts over time will try to pull apart and you're cutting directly on the vehicle which always risks damaging the vehicle's clear coat.
