  2. Hello from Cincy

    Welcome from Dayton!
  3. Herculite Bantex Banner Media Anyone Ever Use?

I don't have the printer you do so I can't say for sure, but my guess is changing temps or passes isn't going to solve it, especially if the profile is just laying down too much ink. Are you using a canned profile specifically for that media? Have you experimented with other profiles to see if...
  4. Herculite Bantex Banner Media Anyone Ever Use?

Probably just your profile. We print tons of it on our JV33 and it took some work to get it profiled correctly, ink wants to puddle on it. Once we got it dialed in it prints excellent though.
  5. Need good source for screen printed reflective

I agree, this is perfect for solvent. IJ680 with 8518 laminate will probably outlast screen printing. PM me if you want a quote, we run this material combo regularly.
  6. Getting new space organized

Been there done that. It's a hard decision wether to take a small space to keep overhead low or rent more space than you really need so you have more expansion room. We ended up taking too small of a space when we moved to where we are 4 years ago. Back then it was sized right for the time but...
  7. cleaning an HP Scitex FB500

Just ordered some, thanks for the tip!
  8. Got the XR-640 installed today!

Is it just me or does it look like the Roland XR shares a lot of parts as the new Epsons (giant post-heat platen, dryer, pretty much the entire stand and feed/takeup assembly, etc.)? I'm comparing pics of the two side-by-side and it's hard to tell for sure, but it sure does look like they are at...
  9. Table top surface. What to use.

I'm partial to the self-healing mats from Speed Press. They last forever and won't dull your knife tips.

  12. Updated Signs101 member price list

Hi everybody! Just a heads up, my updated 2013 price list for Signs101 members is now available. I've worked hard to keep prices as competitive as possible; in fact, no prices have gone up and many have gone down a little. We've also (finally) installed a UV flatbed printer so I've added...
  13. Hi-res photo source for long banner

Cleancut for the blades? and istockphoto or fotolia for the images
  14. Looking For A Good Deal On A Pair Of New Monitors

Check Dell's refurbished selection, I've always found killer deals on there. A few months ago I picked up a pair of 24" Ultrasharp displays for about $350 for the pair, they were last year's model but are really nice. I've always liked Dell's Ultrasharp displays, we have a lot of them in our...
  15. Printer Comparison Source?

The JV33 is faster by a considerable margin. I do expect it will be replaced by an upgraded printer sooner or later, but I wouldn't lose sleep over that, there are a bazillion out there so they will be heavily supported for years. And new and fancy isn't always better, case in point my GS6000...
  16. Printer Comparison Source?

If you want to run up the street you're more than welcome to come take our JV33 and GS6000 for a spin. I'd put the JV33 at the top of your list if for no other reason you already know the ins and outs of the JV3 and Mimaki, so it won't be much of a change at all. If we were ever in the market...
  17. Advice on LEJ-640 Flatbed

I can't imagine how unproductive 133 s.f./hr would be, and I'm assuming that's in some sort of "production" mode that's marginal print quality... How slow is it when printing at a real-world sellable resolution? We're running coro at 4 minutes per 4x8' sheet on our CET and I swear to you...
  18. wall graphics

180C removes fairly well from walls for the most part. If you're doing a full-coverage wrap or mural I wouldn't use it, my preference is Phototex or true wallpaper, but for something printed/cut like this 180C works well. For the cut stuff, don't use 651, use 631, it's meant for walls and...
  19. wall graphics

I would probably print/cut the image on high-performance wrap vinyl like IJ180C with matte laminate, and then do all of the text in cut Oracal 631 vinyl.
