  1. HP L25500 End of Life :(

Might call a junker and see if they'll haul it off for you for free. We've gotten rid of a few printers that way.
  2. Suggestions Looking for some advice on a laser cutter mainly only cutting thin plastics

This is true. Even now most stuff out of China is only 50% junk (versus a decade or so ago where it was like 95% junk).
  3. Discussion Holiday Hours

Normal hours, but probably closing up early on Friday. Closed on the 24th, open the 31st.
  4. Moving UV printer on a budget

Flush and transport securely and properly. Last time I checked, the heads on those are close to $4k a piece. Better to be safe than sorry.
  5. Please educate me on ADA signs

I can't imagine laser engraving would work, but we haven't tried. I think your instincts are probably correct on that one.
  6. Please educate me on ADA signs

You have to have the appropriate equipment (engraver, braille pen(s), raster spheres, and the software) in order to add braille to signs. There are very specific rules for where the braille must go, the size of the spheres, the spacing between the spheres, the depth of the spheres, et cetra...
  7. need hem welder for banners

Leister HEMTEK is a reasonably priced option.
  8. Suggestions Looking for some advice on a laser cutter mainly only cutting thin plastics

Definitely a very reasonable price, BUT these are (most likely) Chinese manufacturers and you DO get what you pay for. There will be virtually no support, no replacing parts, and so on. So, if something goes wrong and your equipment stops working, there's a very good chance the company has...
  9. Suggestions Painted Cinder Block Wall

This sounds like it's going to be a permanent installation, so why risk your letters falling off or being pulled off the wall? Just stud mount them and call it a day. The extra time and labor isn't really that much and you'll save yourself trips out there to replace stolen letters, because...
  10. Suggestions Looking for some advice on a laser cutter mainly only cutting thin plastics

We have a 48" x 24" 150W laser, but we're also cutting thicker plastics. Depending on your budget, it might be worth getting a higher wattage just for those times when you DO need to cut thicker plastics (it'll also make quicker work of thinner materials). Universal makes a very good product...
  11. Wide Format Full Color Printer / Plotter

$1,000 is an impossible budget for a wider printer/plotter. I haven't looked in a while, but I'd expect you're going to be somewhere in the $8k to $10k range for a used 54" printer/plotter. Brand new, around $16k to $20k.
  12. Need Help Client requesting files

    Y'all hear something?
  13. Thermal Expansion on Glass

Here we go. Somebody disagreed with Gino. Yes, I recognized the first statement and understood it for what it was.
  14. Need Help Client requesting files

I'm gonna start calling y'all the Kitchen Crew. You can dish it out, but as soon as somebody starts serving you some of your own food, y'all run straight out of the kitchen crying "foul!"
  15. Thermal Expansion on Glass

Maybe at your shop. Here we routinely deal with dimensions in the ten thousandths. If an employee can't read a tape below 1/8", I'd be seriously concerned.
  16. Suggestions best tool to install u post (sign post) in the ground

A one person augur is amazing. We did about 25 single post signs in a half day with two people.
  17. PVC free print film for laser cutting?

We have a LS1000XP and the Gravograph blower IS powerful. We lose little pieces all the time. Haha!
  18. Damn sun

After about four years being exposed less than half of the day, a yellow and blue sign faded about 30-40%. It was still legible and didn't look bad, but the customer wanted to replace it. It probably could have stayed up another year or two. That was just UV direct print with Nazdar inks, no...
  19. Proof/layout assistance: how much information to include?

If they gave you a file that had the 541C PMS color in it, then it's on them. They picked the wrong color, then they approved the job, then they decided it wasn't the color they wanted? That's all on them. If you're feeling generous, maybe offer them a slight discount on the reprint.
