  1. New wall artwork for the office courtesy of Greg Reid

www.reidsigns.com his work is as good as it gets. I've long been an admirer/stalker.
  2. How's business?

We're looking to hire 2-3 people right now. The Ohio economy must be doing above average... Had a fairly slow first half of January which is to be expected but then the flood gates opened and we've been burried ever since. Already quoted enough work to keep us busy into fall (not sure what we'll...
  3. Epson GS6000 Magenta Lines

Shot in the dark but have you tried cleaning the encoder strip? That's usually my first guess when any random lines start showing up. Although this doesn't really look like that's the issue here, it's worth a shot. Otherwise I'd suspect the magenta head cable next.
  4. Epson GS6000 Magenta Lines

Can you post a picture? What direction are they (head travel or media travel)?
  5. Print for our waiting area

    And serious time...
  6. Print for our waiting area

Loving the surfboard. Reid Signs does some ridiculously awesome stuff!
  7. Lease on equipment

It's all about leveraging your cashflow. Merritt is right IMO. If you can justify the machine (that doesn't mean if you can justify the $500 a month, it means if you have the work to justify adding equipment, anybody can afford $500 a month in theory), a lease is a way to bring that equipment in...
  8. Jv3s

    Yeah, this.
  9. Jv3s

If it's in decent working condition and you got it for less than a grand it's a good deal, even if it needs a new head. If it needs all new heads, pumps, dampers, lines, etc., you'll probably end up putting $3-4k more into it to get it working well. If it's a 3-head machine, that may not be worth...
  10. Concept 201 and 203?

Looking very forward to it actually! (-:
  11. Concept 201 and 203?

Very good materials for the money. We use miles of both every year. Don't oversell it as a high-end material, it is what it is, but for a good inexpensive short-term (3-ish year) vinyl it's very good.
  12. smoothest scrim banner?

None whatsoever with the one we use. It's my vendor's house brand so like I said I don't know exactly what it is or who makes it, but it works great. We actually use the 15oz version in retractable stands, we've done more than 100 of them in the last year with this stuff and have never had a...
  13. smoothest scrim banner?

Contact Benjy at Trigon Imaging in Cincinnati, ask for the same stuff he sells me for retractable banners, it's a 13oz or 15oz smooth double-sided scrimless blockout vinyl, curl free. Glass smooth, satin finish, prints beautifully. I don't know what it's called or who makes it though, but it...
  14. Building Wraps

That's insane, I've stayed there a few times, the photo doesn't do the actual size of the building justice, it's not small. If an Indy company did that I'd guess it was Indy Imaging, but it looks like an NFL commissioned job so really there are a lot of companies that might have printed it...
  15. folding banners???

Yes. UPS has a total dimension (I can't remember what it is off my head) that you can't exceed. Say it's 150". Take the LxWxH of the box and that's that dimension. Anything bigger and they won't ship it (unless you want truck freight). IMO if you can roll a banner and keep the box size under...
  16. folding banners???

For shipping reasons, some banners will have to be folded. No way to ship a 15'x50' banner rolled, unless you want to ship it motor freight. But something that's small enough to roll and ship UPS should always be rolled.
  17. folding banners???

    Roll 'em.
  18. Blue color prints purple on output???

My guess would be you have too much magenta in the blue. Try to keep you magenta below 80%, above that and it will start to shift to purple. I.e. 100/79/0/0 is a nice blue, 100/85/0/0 is purple.
  19. 3M vs. Oracal- calendered vinyl comparison only please

Oh, on the subject of Oracal vs. 3M, Oracal's 3751RA wrap film is killer, every bit as good as, if not a good bit better than 180C and it's significantly less. Time will tell how durable it really proves to be, but after a couple months of using it we're sold on it so far.
