  1. designing large banners for print in photoshop

No, you won't notice it. We print a lot of banners and wraps at 75dpi and only up close can you see any pixellation, and even then you really need to be looking for it. The only thing we print higher than 150dpi is art reproductions where the viewers will be very close and very picky (we print...
  2. designing large banners for print in photoshop

Make it 150dpi at most, 100 is file for a banner honestly.
  3. Mimaki software advice

None, you need a standalone RIP. Mimaki bundles a RIP with the JV3 new, but I doubt you're going to get it secondhand. I'd recommend Onyx if you have to buy new, it works well with the JV3.
  4. Your thoughts of new Epson's SureColor wide format printer.

    Peanut butter and jelly hopefully.
  5. Your thoughts of new Epson's SureColor wide format printer.

Yeah it does. From the looks of it they learned what not to do from the GS6000 and carried that over to this one. Still looks overengineered to a degree but much more in the right direction. I like the fact that they got smart and put a media release lever in the back, that alone is a big deal...
  6. Your thoughts of new Epson's SureColor wide format printer.

Good to know those of us who bought the GS6000 were guinea pigs...
  7. Need Billboard design feed back ASAP!!

I'm not liking the tear-away either, it's hard to really tell what it is, and it eats up a lot of valuable space. I'd make it look more like the right 2/3s of the design are a vinyl print being "applied" over the left third if that makes sense. Also, the drop shadow behind DONT BE BORING needs...
  8. Paint and floor color gurus, Need advice!

Paint the walls a light neutral beige or gray, wrap or wallpaper (custom printed and designed by you) one or two accent walls. Why paint them when you can showcase your product directly on them? We have a lot of walls in our shop wrapped and it's amazing how much of that type of work we sell...
  9. Banner material and EPSON GS6000 help

We can't run ANY banner on our GS6000 no matter what we do. Heat off, head high, nothing works. Epson installed the new media feeder for us claiming it would solve the problem, but it didn't. They finally threw their hands up and said "it's not approved media" and/or tried to blame the material...
  10. Head Count - Who is using social media with their business?

YES!!! Social media isn't appropriate for every business, and your target clientele will determine if it's justifiable, but for us it is very much so. We don't manage ours ourselves, we hired a marketing company last year (best thing we ever did) and part of the services they provide us is...
  11. JV33 Odd Banding/Striping

haha, we're all here to help. I h ope you get your problem sorted out. We replaced our older JV3 with a JV33 and had the same problem you are having. The JV3 printed beautifully at 720x720, we figured the 33 would be the same but it didn't obviously. Took some trial and error and finally our...
  12. Wrap Company near Indy

For some reason I never noticed you were in Flornece (Y'all). We're almost neighbors. Would you mind PMing me your installer's info? I'm always looking for good people as backup installers when we're in a jam.
  13. Wrap Company near Indy

Don't know them personally but I've heard a lot of buzz about these guys lately: http://www.dreamstreetgraphics.com/
  14. JV33 Odd Banding/Striping

It's a very very good machine. If you don't plan on building your own profiles, you may want to consider switching over to SS21 inks as there are far more profiles available vs. ES3. Again, your problem is almost guaranteed to be profile related, and frankly it doesn't sound like your technician...
  15. Grimco 15oz Key Banner

Yeah, it's not nearly the same thing, not a suitable stand in. Neither is Koma from Fellers, it's very similar to the Key. I've never tried it but I'm told Ultraflexx has something very similar to the Bantex.
  16. smoothest scrim banner?

Awesome, glad he was able to help. It's nice stuff, we've been burning through it lately. Benjy's a god guy. They don't sell a lot of "mainstream" materials orbrands, but he can get some pretty oddball medias that I've had trouble sourcing elsewhere.
  17. JV33 Odd Banding/Striping

It appears you have to register on the Avery site to access the profiles now, I don't think it used to be that way. http://avery-ap.color-base.com/ You might also try calling your dealer on the printer and asking if they can help you out with some better profiles, their tech support people...
  18. JV33 Odd Banding/Striping

The JV33 is fairly susceptible to changes in media compensation, it's wise to check it periodically throughout a print run to make sure it's still good and adjust it on the fly if necessary. Drop pos. doesn't need to run as often, you're supposed to do it when the material thickness changes, but...
  19. JV33 Odd Banding/Striping

Ditch the profile. Find a 540x1080 6-pass profile and try it both bidirectional and unidirectional. This is the optimal resolution for this print head, you will get better results. 720x720 profiles introduce a lot of banding. Not sure what RIP you're on but a good canned profile is Avery's...
